I think we are all just too absorbed in playing it!

Can someone tell me what has to be done to raise your score? I'm looking at the open feint leaderboards & on the very first easy level, the top score is 114 thousand plus. Now I've played through this level at least 20 times & cannot score above 15,435. Am I missing something... Ideas, tips?!? Anyway, really enjoying the game, just want to try & compete with the leaders :D

Hey my score is exactly 15,435 too. But I don't care about scores, passing each level is hard enough haha.

For your score, it's all about your multiplier. The closer the creeps are to your base, the more points you get for killing them.

You get more points by increasing your multiplier. You increase your multiplier by killing creeps closer to the exit. Normally each creep you kill is plus 1x multiplier. If you kill it closer to the exit you will get 5x, 10x or 20x. If you kill a creep basically on top of your exit, you will get 50x multiplier... which in a short level is worth more than killing multiple waves of creeps.

Frankly, I think the system is kind of dumb, because it fails to reward you for being an efficient killer (dominating the level by destroying creeps early) in favor of trying to let creeps get as close to the exit as possible. In fact, you will score much much higher by getting many kills near the exit and letting creeps leak than by beating the level perfectly, which again, is counter-intuitive. The way you play to get high scores is nothing like the way you play to beat the level.

Just imagine all those poor folks that HAVEN'T played geodefense! They have no idea what is going on.

It's kind of sad that level two just says "you have 2 weapons to defend with" really? can't even tell me what it does or a tip on how to use it?? (obviously I know it's the laser tower but come on!)

A lot of us won't mind since we've played through the first game but there are a lot of people that are completely clueless on what to do.

This really should not have been a separate product if the dev was going to work on the gameplay only.

The icon is the same as the first game with the tower moved down to make room for "Swarm"
The Menu is the same except the dev added "Swarm" and the button for OF
The Level selection is the same with the addition of a giant button that boots me out of the game if I hit it by accident... and I already bought Geodefense AND have it on my phone.

That's a really good point. Perhaps it was the game designer's intention to have the game effectively played in two ways, without disjointing the game mechanics?
Alternatively, maybe they could add a super bonus for clearing the level without any creeps getting in?

Maybe, but at 99 cents, you can't really complain too much.

Hmm, that does seem kinda strange. Honestly I would've never thought about trying that strategy. I mean it kinda goes against the whole tower defense idea... Oh well, thanks for all the help!!

Oh, I think the game is worth far more (which makes sense since the 99 cents is only the starting price)

But the point was that there is no tutorial at all. You can't expect new users to magically know what is going on. The fact that the menu and stuff are the same is an annoyance more than a fault of the game.

Now if this was DLC then it would be perfect as is since Geodefense explains the use of all the towers (though I'm sure Swarm has changes to the way the towers work)

I agree. As a DLC that'd be fine.

It's just odd to be rewarded for NOT killing creeps as fast and as devastating as possible. In some cases, being bad at the game will get you a higher score! For example, Player A loads up a level, figures out a great strategy, clears it on the first try with no creeps getting near the exit. Player B struggles, leaking more than half his life, manages to barely pass the level and since he isn't as good as player A, ends up killing some creeps closer to the exit and almost dies in the process.

Player B outscores player A by 10 fold. That kind of thing shouldn't really happen...

There probably should be some kind of bonus for passing a level perfect, or, rather, a penalty for leaking creeps. And given the massive score increase for +20 and +50 multipliers, each creep you leak should hurt your score pretty bad, like say, cutting your total current multiplier in half.

p.s. in case anyone doesn't fully grasp the difference between beating a level, and going for a high score, check out how I got 100,000,000+ points on The Hat in Geodefense (original):

This is way overkill. You only need a couple laser towers upgraded, maybe a few blasters for direction or just a saftey net. The creeps will follow the path of least resistance without being "trapped" in by towers. In otherwords, they will not avoid getting shot by the lasers and go around, so you don't need to spend all that extra money on shooters.

This actually perfectly illustrates my above point though.

Note his score of 500,000, and that he only has 6 lives left.

I beat the level using only 6 towers, lost no lives, and scored 217,000:

That's messed up if you ask me.

Well that is a really great game. I loved geoDefense until the last update (got too easy), made even a videoclip of an early version, but geoDefense Swarm seems to be even better. GREAT! I dare to say after some minutes: Highly recommended!

    My solution for Easy 2:

...I'm not digging the icon. The "swarm" doesn't fit in with the retro theme. They could have done more to upgrade it from the original game's icon.

Apart from that, no complaints yet.

Yup, I totally agree with you on the icon, there are plenty of retro fonts that would have been way cooler to use for the "Swarm" part.

I agree with Elysium, the scoring makes no sense, I've wondered that for a while on the first game.

I totally agree! Open-field TD games just involve so much more creativity. FieldRunner's was my favorite...Now this game is.
