i don't know if this has been mentioned, but i wish the countdown timer didn't start until the first tower was placed,
+1 also I wish that there was a way to pause it without the menu coming up because that would allow for me to get my strategy before it is too late instead of rAndomly placing towers. Just my opinion but maybe this was do e on purpose to add to the difficulty
I think this game is too hard, but I've only played one hard level ("Middle Ground") so far and refuse to play any others until I've beaten it. Actually I did try one medium level and got stomped on that one as well.
So, is this built into geodefense or is it a complete new game? And how many levels and stuff are there?
Um, the reason it is giving you red hexes and not letting you place a tower is because you are trying to completely cut off the routes to the exit. You cannot, for extremely obvious reasons, completely prevent creeps from getting to an exit. If you could there would be no game, you would just put down two towers blocking the exit and the creeps would never be able to get out and you would win by default. You also cannot build a tower on any hex that a creep is currently occupying. Wait for them to clear out and then build a tower.
EDIT: Yeah, you're right. With all of the different color tiles, I ended up being a bit confused. My bad.
Man, I just got this the other day along with Geodefense 1 and I LOVE these games! I don't know how I missed out on the first one. This game is very challenging. I like the strategy involved and trial-and-error to refine your approach. Definately offers many hours of replay and fun. I have played Sentinal, Defender Chronicles and both Star Defenses and I really like the Geodefense games the best overall!
b/c this game is awsome i have played tower defense before and h8ed every one of them this one for some reason i BA
GD Swarm Somewhat Overwhelming? I'm stuck on Medium 1 as well. I wish I had some suggestions. I have tried so many different approaches but have not found the one that does the job. I always seem to lose it on Wave 11 for some reason. I really like this game, want to be challenged but I wish there was an option to turn down the intensity a little. At least for those of us who are Tower Defense challenged. Just like the original GD, I'm getting ready to walk away from GD Swarm. There comes a point where you just don't want to waste any more time trying to make some head way. I think the Dev is actually missing out on additional sales. Those who aren't in an "elite class" of TD players [but like me still really enjoy playing TD games], just won't want to be overwhelmed again and again each time they start up a GD game. At least IMHO. Good Luck to you. Hope somebody's kind enough to share their elite secrets for success on Level Medium 1 [Swarmalicious me thinks]. Unfortunately for most of us, all the other upper levels await us with similar exasperating consequences ...
There is an option to turn down the intensity. Go into options and click "Hardcore Mode." It will change into "Novice Mode." I suppose this isn't really obvious to most people. Also, there is a strategy thread here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=25505 I outline one way to beat Medium 1.
Thanks so much. I forgot all about the option for Novice Mode and remember it in the original GD. However, I would still have preferred Easy/Medium/Hard Options for all Maps and be able to track high scores amongst everyone else playing at those difficulty levels. I know, I didn't Develop GD and can't always get what I want. Thanks for the info and link to the possible solutions for Medium 1 and 2. I really do appreciate it.
Just done easy 1-7 quickly. I finally beat the original geoDefence yesterday before playing swarm, since there were a few levels that I never completed. Agreed about the icon, i like the idea of putting the same tower in a hex shape instead. The difficulty is perfect, agree that we should be told what the thumper does, and the early hints should introduce the user to the 'double-tap lazer tower to fix direction' etc. At the moment I feel like I haven't quite got into the strategy yet, I'm kinda struggling to adapt after playing the original, but I'm sure that will pass. edit: and already i'm ignoring the thump towers and just using the others. Doesn't feel like it really has a use so far.
Thump towers are extremely useful when you make corners for he creeps to go around. They can hit them repeatedly as they go around it and they hit multiple enemies, instead of just aiming at one. I think there's more strategy required in this game than the original. Some levels, especially in medium (I'm not to hard yet) have solutions that seem anything but obvious when you start.
Thump towers plus slow towers on the corner are really powerful... the key to the thump is that it only hits creeps on a hex it's directly touching - forget about the giant AoE you see when placing the tower ... it's not correct. You want to make sure the creeps hit 5 of 6 hexes surrounding it. It's tricky and you really need to plan your route ahead but they are definitely effective (especially when you upgrade them).
I liked the first one but this one makes me want to chuck my iPod into the wall. This game is very frusterating even at the "easy" levels.
