Sorry but this doesn't "work" for me. I started the app, began some random level, placed few towers and let out couple creeps. Then I paused the game and clicked home button. After I restarted the app it didn't crash and the game resumed without any problems. Tried it three times and still no crash/bugs. iTouch 1G @ OS 3.1.1
Ditto for me... same gear too. Game seems solid. Try reinstalling and rebooting your device before playing.
This game would be so much better if the developer included a tower reference manual similar to the one in Tower Madness. The simple fact is that most people (including me) are spending too much time guessing at which tower would work best in a given situation. If we knew how much damage each tower did per shot, or per second, and how much bang for buck each tower had, then strategies would be much easier to form. Also, I think the player should be given as much time as necessary when placing the first towers. It's stupid that the developer is rushing us, especially considering there is no way of seeing the layout of the map (while the game is paused) in an unobstructed manner prior to, or during the game.
That's what makes it such a great game. Trial and error, you also get the hang of the game after you play it for a while and know what towers do what, whats better at which given map, etc... Especially if you played geodefense.
But it's wholly unnecessary to make people guess how to use towers! The game should be about using the towers wisely rather than working out how they work. I've played loads of TDs, and I can safely say that geoDefense in terms of gameplay is among the best, however, it is pulled down by being unnecessarily difficult. They don't tell us how a lot of things work, and they rush you out the gate too. I completely agree with fletchnuts' criticism.
yeah seriously, maybe if the game just played itself some people would be happy, I love the trial and error
I have played GeoDefense, and I've beaten it as well. I enjoyed it so much I jumped on this version of the game. I do find this game enjoyable, but I think it does things poorly that other games do incredibly well. The fact of the matter is that I enjoy formulating strategies, not playing the same five or ten rounds over and over again until I happen upon the right combination of towers. That's not enjoyable, it's repetitive guess work. Not knowing what exactly a "thumper tower" does is detrimental to the experience and the same is true for the level 7 missile towers. How much damage do those missiles actually do? Nobody's really sure so there's no way to know if the extended range is (in general) a good trade off for rate of fire. I didn't realize what I was missing in the original GeoDefense until I played Tower Madness, and having played that TD game I know exactly what Swarm is missing. As an additional note, I'd like to see the creep pathing updated onscreen like Tower Madness does. I'm not talking an exact copy, but that type of info would greatly improve the game experience. With all that said, Swarm is definitely worth $.99, but it's not without its faults.
I don't understand all of the complaints about this being too difficult. I think it is difficult, but that's the reason I keep playing it. Same goes for the first one too. If they were easier, they'd be passable. After about a day, I'm up to medium 4. That's halfway through. If it was easier it'd be a waste.
I don't find the game to be all that difficult yet. I've only put in a few hours of play time and I'm already in the medium difficulty levels.
man, I love the endless mode! I got 3rd on the Easy one, as a lot of the desktop tower defense principles apply to this game too.
I think it's very, very difficult - but it's not too difficult. It may take me many attempts to beat a level, but I like that. I want it to beat me down, because that makes it all the sweeter when I get back up and kick its face off. I just wish the towers were more predictable about what they target. When some enemies slip through on tiny amounts of health because all my towers are firing at enemies a long way from the exit, I get a little annoyed.
How can it be very, very difficult but not too difficult? do you mean to say its difficult but not too difficult?
Because difficulty is not a bad thing. If the game's still enjoyable when you lose, then it's not too difficult. A game is only too difficult if the difficulty hurts your enjoyment of the game. If anything, the difficulty level in Swarm makes the game more fun and it definitely makes it more rewarding.
no you dont get what Im saying, I wasn't asking that...and the second sentence does not make sense but Im not trying to bring an arguement so lets just end it
At the GD forum are two others with the same problem. I also saw one on Twitter. I had this problem today nearly every time I quit the app and restarted it. It hurts even more, when you are in one of the infinite waves levels. Currently, I cannot rely on GDS saving the game state, which renders the game useless to me.
Anyone else having trouble publishing events to Twitter. The game says it's publishing them and there's no error message, but it only published when I did the first level. Since then, although the game seems to think the event's been published, nothing appears on my Twitter feed.
+1 'not a fan' is a big understatement for me ... i just HATE it even more as i already bought geodefense at day one it came out
