    When is update coming?

Anyone know when a new update is coming out? I played the game for 3 weeks straight when I first got it. Now that I've finished all the levels, there's really isn't any replay value. When are new levels, updates coming?

    Geo Defense comments and ideas

    Hi !

(Sorry for my poor English, I'm French)
I love Geo Defense ! Fantastic animations, polished design... My top iPhone game. But here are a few ideas if David doesn't know what to do next...

    1) Gameplay ideas
    - a tactical menu for each built tower: where you could choose its fireing strategy: (a) automatic (b) firing the weakest creep, with the least hit points (c) firing the creep with the most hit points (d) firing the most dangerous creep (closest to the end of the path)
    - a "glue" weapon the player puts ON the creep road. Slow them down when they run on it; but they restore their real speed after this limited road part.
    - time bomb. You place it somewhere. There is a 5 second countdown and it explodes, damaging close creeps.
    - tower enhancement (for instance, level 6/7 of laser towers): a forward/backward laser tower that shoots at the same time in front of it, and in back of it.
    - an asteroid field, that damages fast creeps that fly through it (slow creeps would not be affected)
    - The end of levels is often very messy: you have lots of money, and build anything anywhere. It's not very exciting to me. Maybe limiting the number of towers on screen, or raising the space needed around one, so that it's impossible to build 50 missile towers ?
    - I would try to keep the number of waves. I thing 40 is too much, games are a bit too long, the more as the 20 first waves are often very easy.

    2) Option ideas
    - Sometimes the framerate gets really slow... I think there are too much red vectors when you loose a hit point. Globally, I would prefer having a good framerate with fewer animated vectors on screen.
    - A level editor (for Mac ?). But that would be super-hard to do...

    3) GUI enhancements
    - When linking a tower to a vortex, you don't really see if the connexion is OK or not, because the green circle is too small.
    - Maybe could you enhance the Menu/Options ergonomy. At first glance, it's not obvious to figure out if "Hardcore mode" switches to the hardcore mode; or if it's a state button that means that you ARE in hardcore mode. The same for some other toggle options.
    - The score is not easy to read. You should group numbers 3 by 3 to make them easier to read.
    - You should enter your name when you record a hi-score.

    Best regards,
    Flam

    Huh?

No offense, but you played a $4 game for 3 weeks straight. That's wayyyy more than enough bang for your buck.

These guys need to eat and provide for their families, wanting more from a fantastic game at a fantastic and very reasonable price is just greed.

There's no such thing as a perfect game, even the best games ever made can be improved upon, but let's get real here people.

I appreciate them making a tower defense game where it matters how you line up the towers, instead of just upgrading and spamming towers, but there REALLY needs to be a much more easier mode. Part of the big appeal of tower defense games is that you can simply lay back and don't have to be on my toes all the time. There's NO way you can play this game casually AT ALL.

Um no. Quite the opposite. Tower defense is supposed to keep you on your toes. If this game had come out before Fieldrunners it would have easily outsold it. Some times people want a challenge. I'm glad you're mad. I'm tired of terribads begging for handouts. This game is fantastic because I actually have to think.

That was the primary motivation for building this game. The dev said:

And as I always say: Not every game is for everyone.

I was gung ho into this game until I got to the medium levels, then like the other TD game I've played (name of which is escaping me at the moment, but it was one of the first on the iPod touch), I lost interest. These TD games start to become repetitive/obnoxious as they get harder. I end up setting it aside for awhile, but then never feel like going back to it. It's been weeks since I've played GeoDefense and I still don't feel like playing it. It is a quality title, though. Very well done and I'm not unhappy with the purchase. I'm just thinking that TD games may not be for me.

Took a few weeks of intense play but recently completed the game without looking up any strategies.

If there is still a TD fan who has yet to get this I really recommend it.

The two levels that really crapped in my cereal were hard 1 the eye and hard 6 x-factor. this game had a greatly tuned difficulty curve that kept me hooked all the way through.

I need more TD and I've exhausted all the games I know about :(

55 pages don't lie, just got it and love it. It's refreshingly hard.

I wish the dev would add some more hard levels. When I first bought this game it seemed like every level was hard, but after learning how to link, upgrade, and then explode the vortex tower, I beat all the levels within two weeks. There is very little replay value, although for a buck it did pack quite a wallop.

Ya I hear ya. There is 29 pages of strategy here... http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=5632

I think any game that can create so much chatter about game play is fairly good. I would love to see more levels but for $.99 I'm fine. Don't tell me your secrets though I'm sill fighting with easy level 5 LOL.

The following is a snapshot of level one at the end. The score seems very low, so who knows if ine was the best strategy. I started out by adding the green turret on the far right, then added one at a time, going clockwise. Somewhere near the end I added the red turret and the second laser, the latter turning out to be unnecessary.

    EDIT:
Sorry, I just noticed that there is a separate thread for GD strategy. If anyone is interested, I posted 5 different snapshots in the same album (waves 9/19 through 19/19) from one game of level 9 "Eternity", which is my second highest score (8+ million, 10/10 lives left) after #12, "Rabbit Hole" where I got 10 million. I beat most of the other hard levels with less than a full count of lives left. Of course there is no way to know if a given score is good, so I'm not claiming anything like high scores in any level.

That screenshot was from weeks ago. A few days ago I played the same level and failed at least 4 times in a row. Even once the game is beaten it is still pretty challenging.

Still OK for me (OS 3.1, iPhone 3G). Might be worth rebooting the device, or if jailbroken (which can lead to RAM shortages), revert to a more standard config.

(You could also remove and re-load the app--but your progress/scores would be lost!)

    Great Game

    I love this game!

Definitely recommended. it isn't turn based like TapDefense so you need to keep up with a higher rhythm. I found it challenging and fun.

It just got kicking out from my number one by Goldfin last week. This is not a tower defense game. But it's just too addictive :)
