Read back 3 or 4 pages. There is a complete list of changes.

I am stuck on Hard 2. I can repeatedly get to level 28 or 29 of 30, and then I die. Argh. I have about 4 different strategies which get me to 29 now. I collect (apparently).

But surely you will raise the price when the lite version is released? It is almost embarrassing to think how low the cost per hour is with this app... If for example the Puzzle Quest gives you 40 hours for $8, then by the same rate geodefense would be 5 hours for one dollar - but I have sunk that many hours just to reach the first few medium levels, so I'm not even halfway thru the game. And every minute with geodefense is quality time! To think that a movie admission is about $15 here, and for that I get two hours of entertainment (and usually not even very good entertainment these days).

By the way, maybe you could add a total game time statistic in geodefense high score page, ala Smiles. Or on second thought, maybe better not :)

Hard level 2 is what I am stuck on too. Finished all other levels, can get to 29 consistently. Any help on this one???

    Thanks! That was quick.

Lasers tracking sooner than they can fire is a nice change. Emergency creep-targeting too. Downloading now...

    Too damn hard

Looks nice. I like the Geometry Wars styled graphics and sound. But it's too damn hard. I see in the latest update the early levels are a little easier and there are other improvements that could help, but in general it's past the line that separates fun and frustration IMO. Too often devs who are too close to a game end up making it too hard, and this is another example.

Games with constant rewards do well, see loot in MMO's, Diablo etc., and Achievements, unlocked cars in Burnout, extras in Smash Bros, etc.. Games with constant punishment tend to be niche in sales.

k I bought it now after tha last update ;)
But I already regret it... :(

WTH is wrong with the difficulty?

I cant even complete first lvl on easy. And I have played lots of TD games and see myself as quite good at them.

Can someone explain how the rules in this one work. As obviously the normal TD rules dont apply here
I have tried most normal TD strategies but nope. I will try some more tonight but if its this hard I see myself deleting it and setting a 1 star review.

I like to play games because they are fun. I dont play them to get frustrated

spawn man with no patience whatsoever !

there are more than enough threads with strategy for about it here have a look..

    as i just wrote elsewhere

....whereas geodefense is driving me nuts but in a good way - so that right you ba****ds i going to suceed this time. Not quite sure why it is not hitting my frustration level but somehow the difficulty is just perfect.

You just have to see it as a puzzle in the disguise of a TD game. For every level it takes several attempts to solve it - at least that's the case for me... :)

As for general tactics: Concentrate on choosing the right tower for each occasion (no missiles for speedy creeps, if you fail with the wrigglers, buy more rockets, etc.), time the upgrading right (to not miss an opportunity to hit a creep) and keep cool in the middle of the battle.

    I disagree.
This game is very challenging and each level has a different strategy that you need to figure out.

Yes its frustratingly hard at times but when you do actually finish a level its very satisfying.

I just spent about 10 days on Medium 2 and finally got past it when i realized I needed more level 6 Rockets!!!
Now on Med 3 I freaking got to the LAST GUY ON THE LAST WAVE and died.
    what a fire works show!!

I too have purchased right after the update comes out. But I am just opposite of you, I find the difficulty really enjoyable. It's is different from other TD like the creeps or besiegement which are mostly easy. This TD actually require alot of thinking and trial and error. I can see this game would give me hours of fun because of the amount of time you need to think of strategy. Well worth $0.99.

Evidently we're looking for entirely different experiences from our games.

I find The Creeps hard, but I love geoDefense. I havn't downloaded the update yet. Does it change the difficultly that much? I just got through level 2 on easy. It was tricky, but fun!

The graphics rock. I guess that is why I don't mind losing as much because it makes such a show when you do.

    Thats true.
I did not intend to sound confrontational.
Have you watched the videos on the strategy?
    There are 3 videos here:

    Easy Level 2
    Medium Level 1
    Using Vortex Towers

These help a ton. Watch them and try those tough levels again.

The new update has a Novice mode you can activate in settings. Weaker creeps, more cash, but no score tracking. (Score are the reward for tackling the REAL challenge!)

It also has a few tower and interface tweaks that would make the game slightly easier sometimes, even without Novice mode (though I haven't replayed levels to test).

But the MAIN thing that makes the game easier is when you set aside the TD strategies you have in your mind from other games, and try "crazy stuff" that you might not think would work. Then when it does, you see why. And then the next level may need different tactics from that... which is why people say this game is puzzle-like in some ways.

For instance there's one level I couldn't solve no matter how efficient I was with placing and upgrading towers for maximum damage. Then for the heck of it I tried a ton of the weakest towers, not upgrading any until I was rolling in cash late in the game. Not only did it work--for THAT one level--but it was quite a light show! And for that level, damage being spread out across the map turned out to be important.

    A question:

I know the "rules" vary from map to map. What variables change, and what variables are always the same?

    I'm guessing that these change:

    * Number of "lives" you have (obviously)

    * Which towers you have in your toolbox (obviously)

    * Tower prices and upgrade costs (is the RELATIVE cost of one tower vs. another always about the same? and the relative cost of one tower level vs. another level?)

    * Creep speed

    * Creep health (is that tied to speed? stronger creeps are always faster too? or not?)

But that nothing else changes: not tower damage strength, firing rate, radius or other behavior.

Have I got that right? Basically the toughness of enemies and the cost of towers is what varies?

    Just curious.

Oh no worries, you didn't come across as confrontational at all. I'm just saying I have a ton of games on my Touch, plus plenty more on my 360 etc. to play, so I don't have the patience to be punished by any game because the designer perhaps set the difficulty bar higher than he should have. I'd rather go and enjoy several other games in the time I could spend banging my head off the wall in this one. Sure there's a sense of achievement for beating something that's hard, but that's less than the sense of enjoyment from playing other games for that duration. JMO.

I will check out the vids and continue trying, for a while anyway, and it sounds from the update comments and other remarks here that the creator acknowledges this problem and is working to address it, which is good.

Re the difficulty: This is different from most other TDs in many ways and you really have to forget the traditional strategies. Turn on the novice mode to get more money and play a few maps. You'll get it sooner or later... This game does not run on autopilot like many other TDs do - you can take a nap while playing Fieldrunners or Creeps but geoDefense is about constant action. Like 110 m hurdles as opposed to the slow marathon of Fieldrunners.

For me, Geodefense is one of the most rewarding games I've played, and I'm one who usually gets frustrated easily. Go figure.

Don't blame the developer for the difficulty, there was loud opposition here on TA asking him NOT to change it. Hope we haven't caused more harm than good here :(

I was weary about the difficulty before I bought it, but once I played it, it was no bad at all!

If it was not this thought provoking and intelligently challenging I would not enjoy this game as much. This has got to be the best TD game out there. It is so much fun, and the difficulty is not ridiculous, it is more of a puzzle hard difficulty ( a good difficulty)...if you know what i mean :)
