Love, love, love the game. Other than the towers being obsured by your finger when you place them, the other thing I'd like in an update is on the level select screen - basically, when you've completed a level - ie No Creeps have gotten to your base - I'd like a marker/indicator next to the score to say "level competed 100%", so I know which levels I have totally done, and which ones I completed but let a few Creeps through....
has anyone had the following problem.. quite often when i place the zapping/slow down towers close together, they do not seem to work properly....ive tried looking closely and it seems that 3 sometimes 4 towers in a row will let creeps pass by without emitting anything...is there something im missing about using these properly?
The only problem there is, I think that unlike some TD games, there's not intention that you be able to survive unscathed. It may be possible in certain levels but not all of them?
I feel some hard maps are easier than some easy maps. Like map 10 in hard, I finished in 1 try. But I got stucked at some easy maps for a while.
I think it's because it has something of a puzzle nature: if the strategy you think of first happens to be the right one, you're going to solve it quicker. Someone else will spend time trying all the wrong tactics for that level--but they might quickly figure out one that stopped you cold! I'm playing in order and am stuck at Medium 2--but not really stuck, I've only tried it a few times and I can see myself getting the hang of the vortex towers. I shouldn't be afraid to Pop!
After playing with this a lot...too much admittedly...I find a lot of the tactics I rely on with the usual TD games such as 7 Cities and Besiegement do not apply with geoDefense. You can't expect to get through levels unscathed, and you can't assume that turrets or lasers work in a certain way. That's what makes geoDefense so hard in a good way. I hope the dev doesn't water down the difficulty factor too much in the next update.
One irony: new TD'ers often think it would be fun to use tons of towers, and worry about upgrading later if ever--and that makes them fail. In this game, there are times when having a lot of cheap towers IS the answer, and we TD pros have wrap our heads around acting like noobs again
I feel this game is in fast pace compare to other regular TD games. Some times the win is based on how fast you can use all your money to upgrade a bunch of towers...
Well guys, bought this game last night...and all i can say is that it is REALLY REALLY fun! But, i do think that easy is too hard. I am stuck on level five of the easy mode. I think the toned down easy mode would be good. For those that want such a challenge, there is the medium and hard modes you know? Also, maybe for a noob mode or something you can just increase the number of lives you get...it's just a thought. I hope there are many more great updates to come for this game!
Great game! I've been playing it a ton the past few days. I appreciate the difficulty in this game... The Creeps and 7 Cities were a mind-numbing walk in the park, and Fieldrunners. This is actually tough. At first I found Easy pretty difficult, but something clicked after banging my head against a few levels, and I made my way through Medium without too much difficulty. Only problem is, now I hit Hard 1 ("The Eye"), and I'm absolutely STUCK. I must have played this level fifty times over the past few days. The strategy that has worked best for me so far is three level 3 green towers, but no matter how I tweak my placement and timing, the second purple star gets me. Not having a walkthrough or tips for each map has made me work a lot harder at this game, and has given me a good sense of accomplishment on some of the more difficult levels as I adjust my strategy. But this level has me at my wits end! Also, I can't figure out for the life of me what linking a level 7 vortex tower does. It seems to do something to the energy level, but I haven't noticed anything else. I guess my three suggestions are: 1) Tips... at least an idea of a general strategy to apply in some of the more difficult levels. 2) A little more info on what various stuff does. It took me a while to figure out that when my rocket towers charged up with a vortex tower that they shot "super rockets". 3) Some sort of "free play" mode. Perhaps the ability to play any map with some other set of conditions... like a lot of starting money but little/no money from creeps, unlimited waves, or a "one creep every x seconds" mode. I think it's DTD that does this, and it's a lot of fun as a sort of sandbox to play in, after you finish all the levels. This would multiply replayability quite a bit, IMHO.
im really on the fence about tips....i enjoyed having to rack my brain figuring stuff out...short descriptions of the towers would have been helpful...i think a free play setting would be really fun too....especially for experimenting with weapons....
^^for the eye i just put as many blaster towers i could fit in there, and then upgraded them when i could. has worked every time i've tried it edit: ok i just tried again, i had 8 blaster towers in the middle, all upgraded once and two upgraded twice, and then on the last wave i put 2 lv1 missile towers in i'm still quite stuck on hard2 and 6, anyone have any tips for these? on hard 6 (the X one) missile towers seem kinda useless since the creeps go out of the screen so often so you'd need a lv 5+ missile tower, and laser towers clearly don't work so that just leaves blasters and shock towers
In the opening page for each level, the dev does include a small tip about where to place a defense weapon. I'm not sure if I want more than that.
I've got a question, and I was a bit too lazy to go through this thread and find an answer so.. Up to how many upgrades can you do for each tower? It seems endless to me.
Thanks, Man of Mystery. I tried a similar strategy (all green towers), but I went back and tried again with your suggestion to put them all in the middle. After playing with various layouts and timing of each tower, I FINALLY made it though! Thanks again! I haven't beat Hard 2 yet. I got up to 27 using missile towers inside the triangles, a laser tower in the corner (at lvl7 it can fire both coming and going), and a slow tower at the beginning. I need to study where the creeps spend most of their time so I can maximize my missile coverage.
^the best strategy i've found so far for that is two laser towers side by side in the top right, a slow in the corner of the top triangle, and the rest of the map filled with missile towers i can usually make it to the start of 29 sygg mind elaborating? do i need to use all blasters+shockwaves or do you maybe use some laser towers?
