I love this game! By far my most played on my iPod The graphics are retro, but still very nice and the gameplay is superb! Congrats to the developers!
I'm stuck on medium 2 and have been for a while. I'm trying to do them order. I get to wave 14 almost every time. My last attempt got me to wave 15. That isn't even close, though. That level has 24 waves.
^that was the hardest medium level for me, i just started out with 4 blasters and a vortex in the middle-left and top-left areas and upgraded them a bit, and then mostly filled the map up with missile towers (and some shock towers next to the blasters, which is next to most of the missiles too) i'll try and get a screenshot in a bit edit: ok well i tried it again and died at 15
I hope it's just a hump around 13-15, because it get ridiculously hard. I've tried every setup I ca think of, but that 14th wave...everytime!
well i just beat the last level on hard my first try, that was kinda disappointing o_o used nothing but missile towers and 2 shock towers all i've got left is hard2 and hard6 now
Well I'm a TD-Tard and I can't get passed level 4 on easy yet. Just got it yesterday but whoo this thing is whooping up on me.
Just beat lvl 2 on medium without losing one life!!! I was just about to give up with the level for the night and I decided to try a new strategy. I used 4 lazer cannons fully upgraded on the first turn and the rest of the level was filled with turrets and tazers (the things that slow the enemies down) on the first straight path. This allowed for the 2 fully upgraded lazer cannons to be hitting multiple enemies at once and the rockets to hit the faster moving enemies. This game is so good!!
I just beat the entire 10 levels of Easy! Love this game. 7 Cities TD is just as good, but different in ways.
I tried something like that, but it didn't work (stupid wave 14). I'll try it again but I'll set it up differently and see how it works.
i think the best part of this game is the tempo. you're constantly upgrading/placing so there's never a dull moment. yet, each upgrade is significant. while the graphics on Fieldrunners is so good that it's almost fun to just watch, it does get tiresome eventually. the tempo of Geo is helped by the fact that the maps are relatively short, which means if you fail (and the difficulty means you normally do), it's not a big deal to try again. and the maps ramp up so you're in the thick of it again pretty quickly.
Does anyone have any tips on beating Easy Level 5 (The Beat)? I've gotten to the last wave a couple of times, but can't seem to finish. I seem to do the best without any rocket towers--just two laser towers in the top right and bottom middle part that goes with the flow, and the rest blasters in the middle of the last part.
This game is growing on me. It has the perfect level of difficulty, just what I was looking for. The rounds are very quick to allow you to keep trying to replay an unbeaten level. It keeps me coming back for more. I love this game
Man this game is awesome but does it get hard quick! I'm currently stuck on the first level of the medium pack and for the life of me I cannot figure out what strategy to use. it's frustrating and challenging, but refreshing.
check a few pages back, i believe the dev put up a link with a video completing that map on his site.
(From the Dev) Difficulty Yeah, I have a couple vids up at: www.criticalthoughtgame.com I've made a command decision: I'm going to lower the difficulty of the easy levels. I need to make this a bit easier for the more casual crowd if I'm going to snag em and get them jazzed about this style of game design. This means I can beat the easy ones without really watching the screen... so even casual people should be able to muscle through it. But medium and hard levels I'm not planning on touching at this point. They are the meat of the game. And in fact, I may decide that when I start adding levels I'll only do so on those two categories at first. I think I'm going to put out an update with these changes and some other game play /UI fixes right away. Then do extra levels for the follow on release. Those take longer because balancing them to a razors edge takes a lot of time! -- David
why not leave the easy levels as they are and just release a lite version with toned down easy levels ?
Well, the decision has been made.. I would've really liked a global percentage slider for creeps strength. The 100% setting could've been the current difficulty, with the lower end set for 60%. Same scaling applied for scores. And of course the slider would go to 110% for the masochists among us
I dont think the easy levels should be toned down too much. I struggled to get passed them, simply as i was stuck in the way of other TD games in that you place towers, upgrade, watch, repeat - obviously doesnt work. However, now ive understood the basics from the easy levels, the medium levels are that much simpler to understand. Toning down the easy levels will lure people into a false sense of security, hit the medium levels, and get blitzed every time. However that is your decision and im glad to have played through the easy levels on the difficulty intended.
