Still...playing...this....game. Probably been 2 hours in a row.... with an occasional touch arcade break... The only thing i could ask for is a pause button so i can place towers.
excellent thanks, that's the only medium level i haven't been able to beat and hobbes a pause button like that would ruin the game
No, the line when you click and hold a tower and then drag your finger out. Does anyone know what it does?
What's the little line all about???? Answer... Later on you'll get a tutorial that shows what that does. But in short, it lets you connect a damage-dealing tower to a vortex tower so it can get juiced up! -- David
there definitely is a learning curve to this game, and it's much more reflex oriented than other TD's. the amount od constant upgrading is quite new, which is probably why even season TD gamers were having initial problems with it. i found i finished the medium levels faster than the easy ones, because by then i "got" the game and was ahead of the curve. general tips: - place all your towers earlier because by the last 25% or 33% it's so frantic with the income and the enemies you won't really have time to place towers, you'll be upgrading them. - rockets at level 5 will re-direct if their initial target is killed. but difference. - upgrade your vortexes if you like using "smartbomb"s; low level vortexes don't do much. the only major annoyance with the game is placing the towers can be difficult if you want them RIGHT next to another tower or path(and in this game that's all the time). sometimes if it initially doesn't let you, you can "wiggle" it in. of course this takes time and that's something you don't always have in this game. or you end up placing it not-close and you have to sell and re-place. but that's all. looking forward to the hard levels...
I posted a review with a rating of 5/5 for this game: http://www.taptoplay.de/2009/02/22/geodefense/ It's in German, but automatic and therefore funny translations for English, French and Spanish are available (just click on the country flags in the top right). I must say what differs this game from other TD games is the frantic speed, the dynamic graphics and that upgrades cost time. The last thing might sound small, but it makes a huge difference if your weapon will deactivate itself for a few seconds when you upgrade. In-battle-upgrades are a big nono in this game. I love this feature, because it feels more realistic. In this thread there was a posting about zooming the screen when placing something. I also thought this would be good, but then realized, that even on Besiegement I hate this feature because it gives me a small moment of "hmm? where I am?". This would be the death in this frantic type of tower defense.
They should lock the later maps and only unlock if the previous one is completed. Gives some sort of incentive to keep trying.
Hey people, can I ask a few question? Why do you guys like this TD? Is it because of the retro feel or is it because of the difficulty? I tried my friend demo of this game and find that it is not really interesting, maybe because I only tried for like 5 minutes. But looking at the amount of post in the topic I decided to ask for comment before purchasing it. aero
@aerolord: Well, it's a grapical stunning puzzle game. If you like puzzles, tower defense games at all, the tron retro vector look and the geometry wars type of action on screen, then you'll like this game.
^^^^ mostly because of the difficulty, yeah, i don't think if i was able to sail through all 30 levels and beat them my first try i would keep the game around for long graphics are great, also
i just got it and i really dont think its that hard i beat the last level in easy first try and the first in medium first try too
I only had problems with levels 3 and 6 in easy mode (I'm now on level 7...). Curious: Yesterday I tried level 6 more than 20 times, loosing every time on wave 5 or 6. This morning, I solved it immediately. So, if it's hard or not depends . It's like Mouse About: How fast can you see the solution?
I like it because the game play has a unique feel, not the same as other TD games. The graphical/audio style is part of that, but more important is the challenge. Very difficult at first, but the KIND of challenge is what makes it fun. (Otherwise, being hard is just annoying.) The process of learning what works and doesn't (on each level, and for the game as a whole) is fun, especially when you beat a level that has defeated you badly time and again. And lastly, they pace (you place towers without pausing) is a fun change--especially near the end of a level when it becomes almost arcade-like, less puzzle-like. But games are subjective. What's fun for some people is not fun for others. If you're a fan of TD already, then this might be up your alley. If not, maybe free trials of other TD games will give you SOME idea (but each is very different). I recommend The Creeps if you're new to TD, 7 Cities if not (and both are worth having). Fieldrunners is "open play" instead of maze-based--I like that a lot, but it's a somewhat different genre from The Creeps, 7 Cities or geoDefense. Anyway, once you know you like TD, if you're not looking for something easy, geoDefense is well worth having. If I could only have two TD games, I'd have geoDefense and 7 Cities (and they're very different challenges).
well i felt like this needed to be bumped so here goes uh, level hard2 makes me angry because i can get to the very last wave pretty easily and then i just die but i've beaten all of easy/medium and 1,3,7,9 of hard :d
