This may be the only game I ever need again! Incredible, I can hardly wait. No hype needed. It speaks for itself. The devs obviously care and do updates, including a whole new system. And made their money, only charging a buck. This will blow anything 8bls Gorilla can throw out, let alone Star Defense crap. Oh, and STP_TIM... consider yourself "flamed"
Geodefense already provided more than enough gameplay for the 99c asking price. Heck, I bought it when it cost more and still feel like I absolutely got my money's worth. Based on that, I see no reason why swarm should be an update. I fully support it being a second game that the developer can make money from. Heck, they've already said swarm is only going to be 99c. I have no problem paying another 99c fir another geodefense game.
As someone mentionned, above, would it be possible to also make it an ingame upgrade for those who already have geodefense? Way too many apps to fit on the couple of pages Apple gave me. Looks great, will get it, even if I still have to finish the original first!
In my book this is by far the best TD on the App Store. No it doesn't have 3D graphics. No it doesn't have the most features. But oh yes it does have the best and the most balanced gameplay. This is where many go wrong -- it is better to make what you have really really good instead of adding lots and lots of mediocre stuff. I really do like that the levels are hard but also very short. It's perfect in short bursts. If you fail you will know within minutes. I enjoy DC a great deal too, but I don't find it very amusing to fail on the last wave after having spent 30+ mins on a map. I rather fail after 3 mins. But then again, I really like the Vector TD games (http://www.vectortd.com) which were the first TD games I played. I will buy this in a heartbeat.
The one thing I hated about geoDefence was that the levels finished right when I started having fun. It desperately needs an endless mode.
"And just one more thing... with Swarm, I also added an endless level in each group. On those you play continuously for as long as you can keep going. It's not about winning or losing the level, but rather an endurance test; how far can you get. This was probably the one number biggest feature request for geoDefense."
Endless Mode is in GeoDefense:Swarm Also to everyone: I have been following David's twitter as he updated with bits of info and recently pictures, which turned out to be from the IGN article Anders linked to, but the article has some more good news "Out the door, Swarm will have 30 levels (just like geoDefense did) and if the in-game purchasing of level packs works out, there's no reason to ever increase the price. This makes it cheap for people to try it out and for those who love it, they can buy more as they go. " "even though geoDefense Swarm is the sequel, I really consider both of them equal titles that will progress independently... My goal is to advance the original geoDefense with its own direct descendent, a geoDefense 2 if you will, that incorporates a lot of the ideas of Swarm but with the fixed-path type of play"
Wouldn't the graphics be too hectic if it's free-path? I got dizzy just looking at the screenshots, flashes and neon-lights everywhere.
just realised i didnt see this posted here at all http://ie.wireless.ign.com/articles/100/1009678p1.html thats the interview with the dev. Its got plenty of info.
Anders posted it on the last page, and both he and I pasted pieces of it into the thread. @Clymos: His account is nsxdavid
