Probably, because I've only played till mission 5 or 6 and possibly that is why I agree with 148apps, usually I don't though. Depends on review, this one I agree, because that's how I've felt through the first missions. If that was directed to me, I don't.
I don't agree with the 148apps review at all. Especially when they talk as if the game is just completely relaxing and exploring. I agree that it's not a fast paced shooter or something, but it's definately got some challenge to it -- not just coasting around leisurely exploring. If that was all there was too it, pretty looks and some exploring, I wouldn't be enjoying it. I'm not even playing on hard and I still get frustrated sometimes dying far into a level (mostly those damn mines that come hurling towards you if you get too close or go by them too fast). Seems like they really did only play the first few levels.
woot! Replaying on my iPad, I've got the Platin medals for the training missions, and Missions 1-6, as well as the Time Trophies. =oD I... a am... a I a am a Kickin tha butt... badoodoop. **** oh yeah... and this time around, I'm writing down what missions all the artifacts are hidden in... =oP
Can anyone confirm if this update includes Retina visuals for the iPad 3 or just regular iPad visuals (1024x786)? Just wanna make sure before I spend $5
The game portion is Retina, but everything else is not. I'm sure they'll update it soon because it looks pretty bad.
Strange... Must be an iPad 3 issue only. On the iPad 2 the text is very readable. I can hold my device about 3 feet away and still read it just fine. =o/ Anywho... Going through the game again, I'm finding all the artifacts I couldn't find the first 3 times I went through. =oD Now I've got the first 7, and know where at least 2 more are... But I can't wait to have everything upgraded. Gonna be one badass ship once it all is. =oD Also got the Platin Medals and Time Trophys for Missions 1-10. =oD Hope Game Center is included in a future update...
If you can read the text at the top of the screen in this example from 3 feet away, I will be impressed. There is definitely a problem with some of the graphics on the iPad 3. Also, some of the interface / menu elements are extremely low-res. ( I mean lower res than the regular iPad) But hopefully, these things can be improved in a future update.
hmm... yeah that text is a bit small... hows the text in the chronicles and logs? is that small as well... or is that the only small text issue? As for the HUD and menu elements... sucks to hear that... they look pretty crisp on the iPad 2... though the splash screen (where it says 'tap to start') does look like it could use some sharpening up. Here's the text on the iPad2... in case anyone is wondering... Anyway... Lightstorm3D has been VERY responsive with issues and suggestions, so I'm betting they'll fix the issues in a near-future update. =o)
The text in Chronicles is fine (because it's live scaleable text, presumably) but the arrows at either side of the screen look bad on the new iPad, because they are graphics that have not been updated to high-res versions. There are low-res pixelated graphics like this throughout the game. It mostly looks good, but some of the graphics need to be updated to HD.
WOAH... HO HO HO... I went back through and saw that I didn't have the time trophy for Mission 8... replayed the level... and for some STRANGE reason... I got the Time Trophy. Here's the kicker. I beat the Time Trophy Time by 1 minute and 5 seconds. Time Trophy Time = 4:10 My Time = 3:05 Just seems strange that there's that big of a difference when all the other times I've come in between 1 and 15 seconds under the Trophy Time. Just wondering if anyone else has gone through and gotten a time that just seemed WAY too far under the Trophy Time...? **edit** Just noticed the reflection from the ships light against the water. OH - A MY - A GOD. Coupled with the fog... I'm just consistently being surprised and impressed with the graphics. So glad they made it Universal so that I could play on a device that can handle the enhanced effects. =oD
Hey guys, The ingame message display did not consider device resolution, hence the tiny display on iPad 3 at 2k res (good for an eye test in its current state ). Thanks for reporting this issue. It has been fixed and will be included in patch 1.1.1. When we started working on Gene Effect all graphical elements were produced for 1k display resolution. iPad 3 was released late in our development process with an insane, super crisp 2k resolution. At that point it was too late to double the resolution of all graphics. We already brought a lot of elements to double or even quad resolution and we will continue to enhance more elements that stick out. Bringing everything to 2k target res would mean to redo the game. We'd rather like to work on episode 2, push all aspects of the game to the next level with all your feedback in mind and of course continue the story. Limits for time trophies were evaluated using hard mode. Hence it may be a lot easier to get them on easy and normal mode. Cheers, Dirk
AWESOME!!! Thanks for the info! And yes, I'm super psyched to see the mention of 'Episode 2'! I can't freak'n wait! =oD As for the times... I didn't even think about that... but in the difficulty selection area it says that the 'timed event duration' is 'lowered' - I just assumed that the times were more strict on Hard Difficulty, not the same as Normal or Easy. Guess that's wrong? Well... guess I'll find out later on today when I start playing more of Hard Mode on my iPod again... Anyway... thank you again for the info! So so so so so excited about Episode 2!!! Any chance you guys will release it this year? Or is it too far in the future to really tell? **edit** also... hate to ask again... but any chance we'll see a soundtrack release through iTunes or Bandcamp??
So i bought the game and finished it over the weekend. I have to say im disappointed with it. First, it's worth noting that the game's story is presented entirely in pre/post mission briefing logs in addition to the archives. There's a lot of reading involved, and luckily I'm a big reader so I had no issue with that, but I think this should be made clear for those who are thinking of buying this. Spoiler The reason I'm disappointed is because the story ramps up very slowly, but I stuck with it because I expected there to be a satisfying climax at the end, but nope, the game ends with a huge cliffhanger and a "to be continued" message. Just when I thought things were getting interesting. The gameplay is okay, though it can be a little frustrating at times. However, the soundtrack is superb. I wish we could buy the tracks somewhere.
