I've found the items that give a 60% to block damage make a huge difference on the really hard shot-spammy bosses. With solid armor, they always seem to keep up with the shots you're being hit with, which means half of the times you get hit, you won't take any damage.

Wow everyone is so far in the game. I must be really bad at this game because I've been stuck on the sector 4 boss for days.

What advice can you give? My stats are 34 damage, 180 life, and 68 armor

    The items being used are,

basic charger mk-x: gives reapers chains and it gives +112 life at level 4

Saga core v2: gives reactor overdrive and I have +37 armor at level 2

Beatrix blaster: vampire strike and its at level 3 and gives +43 life

cyclone engine: scavenger and it at level 0 with +9 damage and +6 armor

The game is fun, but I can't seem to progress any further -.-
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure I've seen those items before. At the moment I have a ion shield that activates at < 15% health, a EMP chain every 4 seconds, a photon chain every 3 seconds, and 8% chance per hit to regenerate 38 health.

If you are really having a hard time, grind the first 2 levels of the sector, then restart the sector and do the first 2 levels again. Get more items this way. Quick note, against bosses, don't bother equipping vampire strike. It won't work on bosses. Burn damage, stun, and crit(?) also doesn't work on bosses. Also, anything that procs when enemy units die are also pretty useless. Reactor core accessories aren't really my thing but I guess they can work..

Hey guys, I have been watching this game for a while and it sounds like it's worth the DL, but can someone explain which option is best: Play as Guest or Offline Mode? I prefer Offline for all my games but is there some huge thing I'll be missing out on? I'll probably be grabbing the Gem Doubler.

Garbul, you definitely want to play online right now. Offline doesn't get the free daily reward (although they've said that might change soon).

Romiem, that's a bummer you haven't found one of the block damage items yet. They're really useful. The other thing I'd suggest is that you go for items with a faster cooldown, especially against bosses. Those items that only attack once every three or four seconds aren't great when you're dodging a lot, especially when bosses aren't always vulnerable. Remember to consider DPS -- an item that hits for 40 with a one second cooldown is better than an item that hits for 100 every 3 seconds.

    Thanks for your advice themadbat.

I was also wondering about the online mode. So do you have to login with a fb account in order to add friends? Whats other benefits are there to playing online, besides the daily credit?

I'd pick offline. You'll be tied down to the Internet for the rest of the game's life. And you can get the bonuses just by playing the bounty missions. The only thing you're missing out on is friendly ships appearing in your game which I don't think help all that much.

you can try the offline mode and see how it goes, and if (like me) you find it too difficult to get credits, you can play as guest online only and get credits daily. As soon as they implement credits offline though, i am restarting..

For those planning to play offline, you may want to avoid wasting credits. It would probably be better to avoid using credits to open secret cargoes at earlier sectors. The stats you get from them aren't really that high and will be replaced pretty quickly.

I'm not sure about this but I *think* the chance of getting rare items increase when you reach higher levels. I've only gotten 1 gold item from sector 1-40. After that, I gotten a lot more. I'm not sure if this is only for my case though because I see some ally ships at lower sectors with a couple of gold items. Those seem to be gotten from a lot of black market boxes though.

Interesting theory. I've just reached sector 45 and haven't really noticed any change in my drop rate since sector 40. That said I think the drop rate for gold items is really unfair (I've only had one gold item and maybe 4 purples). I dread to think how many credits I've used opening cargo boxes only to be greeted with a green item with a crappy 80% hunter retaliation ability.

On a side note, I've just managed to get myself Anvindr and personally I think it's an average ship. The fire rate is very slow and although the missiles are guided, that only really makes it useful against bosses where you're trying to dodge rather than attack. Gold claw is far better imho.

Guys. Not sure if this was asked before. Please bear with me.

What is the rarity in this game? I'm guessing from lowest to highest:
    Normal - white
    Rare - green
    Super rare - purple
    Secret - gold

And does higher level of sector yield higher lvl gear when you open the cargo at? Say I'm at sector 30, but cargo mission at 29. Does it give me 29 ish tier item?

Any thoughts on black market instead?

I think the level of the gear from cargo missions depends on where your current sector is. So if you're at sector 60 and a cargo mission shows up in sector 57, the stats will still be based at sector 60.

As for the rarity, I'm not certain which is better, purple or gold. Romiem stated he had 4 purples and 1 gold @ sector 45. I'm probably around 8 gold and around 6 purples @ sector 90. It's hard to guess the probabilities because of the small sample sizes. But don't worry, as long as you get anything that isn't green from those boxes, you're alright. Black market boxes doesn't seem to be any different from secret cargoes. I've opened maybe around 5 or so and got 1 good item (keep in mind I opened them at probably sector 60+ so I *think* the probability of getting non-greens is higher).

Unless devs answer the drop rate questions, we can only guess.. I'm still probably 60% sure that purples and golds drop more frequently at higher levels. Also, depending on how dedicated you are at plowing through sectors and amassing extra credits, black market boxes aren't really worth it. Just open them when you have excess credits that you know you won't be spending opening cargo boxes.

Are the non-black market boxes even worth opening? I've never gotten anything other than standard whites from them, and at their cost they can severely inhibit your ability to upgrade your equips if you don't purchase the currency doubler.

Thanks guys. Well I used to play this game wrongly. Saving up the credits and kept dying only to be tempted to use a credit to revive and clear the stage. I think I played until sector 11 with no secret but only green and 3 whites. And was wondering what I did wrongly until I use some to get 2 secrets from black market.

Good thing is, without good gear, it forced me to think and notice the pattern. Like boss behavior. Mini bosses.

I'm only at sector 30 at the moment. Does it features an infinite amount of stages?

Currency doubler is really good, especially for the early stages of the game where you will rely on whites for your gear. It's also a great way to support a free game. Once you reach probably around sector 20+ and have a bunch of greens equipped, the normal boxes become more and more useless. Then again, at that stage of the game, your going to have a bunch of gems you probably won't be using anyway..

I was probably at around sector 30+ before I ever saw a rare item. Don't bother with black market boxes at low level sectors. It's not worth the 3 credits to open them. Just stick to secret cargo missions. You can just grind normal gear from normal boxes a few sectors up that will have as much power as those low level black market boxes.

If you're only at sector 11, you can just restart the game. Those early credits are actually pretty valuable. Try to get the golden claw ship for 15 credits which is hands down the best ship in the game.

Using Credits to revive is usually a bad idea.. You should instead either try to grind the first few stages of the sector you are stuck in to get better gear or upgrade existing gear. There are only a couple of bosses that are outright broken (although i forgot which sectors they are). One of the earlier boss at around sector 19+ I think that shoot plasma spreadshots together with 3x fast moving EMP balls. Another one that sector 30+ that shoots nearly instant kill burning shots.

I'm starting to think armor is more important than all other stats. With enough armor/life you can outlast bosses and have time to heal back up. I usually go super conservative. At sector 45 now without only green items :(

I second that annoying boss. Dodging the spread shot is one thing. Dodging them and the homing shots are another. It's just insane.

The other disproportionately overpowered boss is sector 27. Had to use a credit to beat it. It fires tonnes to spread shots followed by EMP balls. Impossible to beat it without credit and 8 second ion shield.
