I've been playing the Gears 3 beta for a few hours and I thought I'd let you guys know what I think about it. First things first, the graphics. The graphics look amazing (as usual), everything seems crisper and more fluid from past Gears games. Next off, what's new. They've almost completely revamped the structure of the MP by adding new modes such as TDM (and more as the beta goes along). They've also added Medals, Ribbons, Weapon Skins, Player Skins and more. -Ribbons are basically challenges that give you XP. Complete a certain amount of kills, timed reloads, and etc to earn ribbons. Same thing goes with Medals. -The weapon skins look awesome, flaming being my favorite. As of right now the only skins are, Flaming, Gold, Urban, and maybe Pink. -New weapons include the Hammerburst (with a great First Person ADS mode), Sawed Off Shotgun (Piece of shit), and Retro Lancer. Out of the time I've played with Gears 3 it's still a shotgun fest and the controls are still clunky as hell, but it has it's fun moments. You run faster and the health is lower meaning you'll kill people faster which drastically speeds up the pace of the game. Overall I'm impressed and am looking forward to the release.
I am looking forward to the 25th which is when I can get into the beta. Is there any split screen in the beta?

I've been playing it the past few hours and I find it isn't just a shotgun-fest like Gears 2. Every weapon in the game is being used and it has a lot more balance to the game. Personally, I prefer the Retro Lancer (It's a freaking BEAST at medium-close range, and the charge attack is epic.) and the Sawed-Off Shotgun (Not worthless as Slapshot says. It's best at taking out multiple enemies at point-blank range, and that happens quite often.) as my loadout since I find myself in more close-quarters situations. But for players who like medium-long range, the Hammerburst is there too, and the traditional Lancer is a balance between the two, and more importantly not a water squirter. The game itself moves a lot faster than Gears 2 and is way more fluid. I've had a few issues moving in and out of cover, but that's to be expected. I think the controls are just right, not too twitchy, but not too clunky either. Overall I think just the beta is a massive improvement over Gears 2, and Epic really put a lot of time into making the game feel right, as well as bringing it up to modern shooter standards (Progression rewards FTW). Can't wait until we can play Capture the Leader.
I. Freaking. Love. It. Gears 3 is easily my most favorite video game of all time...so far. Found out that they removed the knee slide trick. Made me sad. But still, everything is just intense, the graphics are phenomenal and they out did them selves this time...cant wait until its release.
