It's more for the text. Full sized, the text strains the eyes. Eli, you've honestly never used he other two gba emulators? That feature is on by default. It's called smoothed scaling on gpSPhone and linear filtering on gba.emu. The vita employs bilinear filtering, which Sony reccomends except for certain case by case situations. 3DS also has an option for DS games. General consensus I've seen, over the years, on the emulation scene and portable backwards compatible consoles, is that it is a good option to keep on most of the time. Most notably for sprite-based games. People generally agree that games with 3D polygonal models should have it off. I'm a little surprised that all the emu loving retro gamers here are suddenly all "a filter, wtf is that?" Visual Boy Advance has employed various shaders in its default settings on desktop for at least 9 years, and eXophase's gpSP (which gpSPone is based on) employs bilinear filtering by default the same as Zod's port. But I suppose eXophase, Rob Broglia, and ZodTTD are idiots who don't know anything about GBA emulation, right guys? You know what is great about it though? If YOU don't prefer it, YOU can turn it off. It's a fairly standard option. Your arguments are like saying "I'm always fine with default controls, why would anyone want to customize?" And to answer your trollish "accusation," no. I did buy the ios version, to support that they've given these games attention and support premium releases. But, I also spent my morning getting FFVIA patched up with the pallet, music, font, and two uncensor patches. I also jailbroke about two weeks ago. I like the UI for this, but I may go with gba.emu due to expanded options. I wasn't aware that expressing a different opinion or noting a missing feature was cause for trolling around here. I should feel honored it's coming from the top dog 'round these parts
I managed to get on google through the app browser by clicking on twitter link on the coolroms page. Then I searched for 'google' on twitter and found a link to google+ via someone's tweet. Clicked around a bit and finally got google search and managed to download the fan translated version of Mother 3 to app. Sorry I can't be more specific. Click about though as it is possible to download roms from other sources than Coolroms direct from the app. Just takes a bit of searching about to get there. Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier. Just thought id post in case it helps anyone else.
Absolutely. You can also download on your desktop, drag to Dropbox, and "open in" from the Dropbox app.
I'm having trouble with cheat codes on Pokemon Emerald, specifically the battle"x" codes, which crash the emulator upon entering a battle. Is the dev. Involved in this thread at all? I coul've sworn I read something by a dev on here. Im just trying to figure out if the codes are duds or if there's an issue with gba4ios
I couldn't activate Dropbox for it.. Got some warning about limited Dev whatever... Anyone else got this ?
Has anyone got a version of Kingdom Hearts to work that doesn't pixelate. I converted it from my Cart same as all my others but it pixelates after the start screen. It's a US cart
Need to chip in here at how mother flippin stoked I am to have this on my idevices. Some serious blasts from the past (loving old GB Castlevania at the mo). I've never wanted to jail brake my iPhone and am over the moon that I've got a way to get a ninty fix now without having to actually carry around a gameboy.
Same. I don't want to JB so I've never messed with iOS emulators. I kinda thought they'd be janky, but man, this thing is surprisingly great.
Can't get the English (patched) version of Mother 3, have tried several times. But I won't complain, have a lot of good games anyway
Yep theres a lot of very good GBA games out there, Mario Kart Advanced i really enjoy Dont forget the early Gameboy (mono) games like Super Mario Land and the often forgotton Batman, two great platformers. This was a great time when platformer meant platformer and not a runner
Has anyone got an idea for a decent iOS7 controller I can use for this? Finding the virtual pad a bit unresponsive for games that require swift input (Mario and the like). I've got a non-Jailbroken iPad Air 32GB. Saw a few articles that suggested my PS3 pad will work - does that require jailbreaking? I want to try and avoid JB if I can..
Yep theres no way to get the PS3 pad working unless you jailbreak. I use an 8-bitty joystick which isnt bad for iCade games, need to test it out with this app i must admit
This gets me every time. It always baffles me how some people are so defensive about some apps that they will make this stupid "but why would you want something I don't want" argument instead of actually bringing a worthwile point to the discussion. One would think the owner of the site would have a different attitude, but alas, this is how it is. I agree with you, filters are standard in the emulation scene, period.
I think some of it is that the app has just arrived, many of us have been following this for weeks on end and on launch day people are still complaining. I'm not saying its perfect, Riley i'm sure will be updating the app with other features but i personally feel people should just enjoy it and embrace it rather than criticising parts of it specially when it was only out a day or so. Yeah it would be good to make the screen slightly larger in landscape mode and some other details, but for now i'm over the moon with the great emulator they've created.
