I stopped at 7.1.2, did a JB to my 4S to be able to semi-restore to 7.1.2 in case something goes wrong with my install, and I'm extremely happy with it This is exactly why I'm more than happy stopping on 7.1.2 for my 4s. I had already read about these issues, but you've made it crystal clear for me. Thanks!
I have Pokemon Crystal, Wario Ware Twisted, and Pokemon Pinball: R&S, and frankly would rather play them on my phone instead of taking my GBA around with additional carts and batteries. With several hours spent on each of those, 8.1 doesn't sound worth it at this point. I think the only 8.1 feature I want/need is the return of the camera roll, so it's not such a problem yet.
There's a lot of talk now because JB for iOS 8 & 8.1 was made available today, just around 35 days after the iOS release. Of course, it's not the same as having a usable rollback-date bug to install apps on a non-JB device if you don't want to JB, and there seems to be some problems with the JB (Cydia not iOS8 ready yet, for example) but it helps if you are into emulators...
There are some sources which make it available through Cydia. I just googled it and the dev seems not to like the idea of having his emu on Cydia, but there are some sources/repos which make it available through there though. If your unfamiliar with Cydia, sources/repos, etc., google to see how JB and Cydia works. I didn't know anything about it some weeks ago, but after a lot of read I learnt about what's secure and what isn't regarding JB.
Just found that the author said in his blog that it's indeed coming to Cydia with the 2.1 multiplayer update.
Jailbreak is on ios 8?? Oh yeah, NDS, PSP & GBA # PPPSSPP updated for metal; that'd be freaking sweet, God of war on my 5S!
GBA4iOS Lives On!! Hey everyone, I've got some really awesome news! I just found out that GBA4iOS lives on AFTER iOS 8.1!! Apparently, the creator found another loophole by making the new version (v 2.1) available as an "open beta." I just downloaded it from the site below, and it works beautifully on iOS 8.1. http://iemulators.com/ I took this screenshot of the info the website provides in case you need a little visual proof. Enjoy!
I'm not entirely sure, although, it sounds like it could mean that this will be a limited time opportunity. Here's another link with some more information: http://www.cultofmac.com/303226/best-gameboy-advance-emulator-ios-back-jailbreak-required/
Just confirming that the open beta does indeed work in 8.1. I was able to download/install it without changing the date on my phone, and it synced up with my old saves almost flawlessly. Much like with an older version of GBA4iOS, it seems like it causes my phone to reboot or reload the dashboard on occasion. I think that minor hiccup is less of a hassle than iOS constantly bugging me to update my carrier settings or the OS.
Works fine for me so far. This is a brilliant GB/GBA emulator, tons of great classic games to be played with this
Awesome!! I'm really glad to see that it's working the same way for everyone else too! I'm definitely with ya about Apple nagging you to update the iOS. I purposely put off updating to 8.1 until I found a workaround for this emulator (like I'm sure a lot of people were doing).
Yeap, i confirm that it works too, just you need to wait a bit for the popup after you click "install" (i also had to press it twice) . But important question: How do you guys play in landscape mode? if i put it on landscape, the dpad and the AB buttons are right on the game screen, covering almost half of it, unlike the portrait mode. So, is there a trick for landscape mode to have the buttons separate from the game screen, like in portrait? I can make them transparent, but i still need to press on the game screen, sometimes covering characters etc.. and portrait mode is really too small on the 4S
Change skins for landscape mode to something else. There's one that looks like the Game Boy Micro Famicom model where the buttons don't cover the screen at all. Of course, that also means the game screen is a lot smaller. Otherwise, I think it works with MFi controllers.
