    bollywood effect??

i don't know why but i had to think about

    SPOILER:

    michael jackson - thriller

    NO ONE THOUGHT ABOUT THAT???

    so, impressions:
    graphics definetely better than payback,
    but what i didn't like:

    THE MISSIONS ARE SO LAME.
always shooting s.o. except one of the last mission where you have to follow the truck. and thats why i have to say: payback missions were better! i even liked the payback city much more than in gangstar. the atmosphere was way more authentic, i remember breaking out of the jail, it was awesome and really difficult as i remember!

    just my two cents..

I think they do count to the % because I was able to do 2 or 3 missions for the Yakuzza guy before doing the rest of the Italian Mafia. I would assume my % improved for each mission I completed.

@jack 000That was my impression too. Someone has to record the whole scene though. I want to watch it again so bad

^Really? That sucks then. I would never be able to complete 100% unless i restart everything because I didn't do any of the Italian guy missions? We need savefiles seriously. >,>

Eh, I kinda like the steering with the accelerometer and the slider (I never really got used to the virtual onscreen steering wheel used in Gameloft's other racers as the touch option).

    I like the drifting.

I like that Gameloft wisely added the "screen tilts as you tilt the device" that their racing games sorely needed (and which Fastlane and Fast and Furious wisely included as options).

What I don't like is the camera system employed while driving. By that I mean every time you make a turn, there's a bit of lag between the turn and the camera automatically repositioning itself behind the car, so when you make a turn you get a view of the side of your car rather than the area into which you're turning the car. I had that same issue with GTA: San Andreas. The "free cam" made things like scouting areas and drive by missions a lot easier, but during police chases it was a pain in the ass because of the same issue that Gangstar has now.

payback is almost top view and the graphics look much worse than in gangstar and of course you can do more with a game that doesnt have as demanding graphics... i think gangster's a very well done game

Finally, some people besides me who think this game rules hardcore. My only complaint is no side missions after the story is over. It would be cool to have repeating missions. I wonder why Gameloft didn't do that.

Stop complaining about the controls, you already got 3 options so pick the one that fits you well. The controls in this game are awesome once you learn how to play them.

Also, you can buy prostitutes. WHAT THE HELL ELSE DO YOU WANT?!
No, seriously, I feel like a pimp when I'm holding my iPhone. *blush*

It's the camera not tracking behind the car at all times that was my only complaint. Again, same complaint I had with GTA: SA. Free look during driving is great when scouting areas and such, but not so great when in high speed chases because that bit of lag between a turn and the camera repositioning itself can be the difference between narrowly missing an oncoming car and getting the police to slam into said car, or just slamming into said car yourself and getting caught.

I agree that it is too easy. The only thing I have any difficulty with are the races, and maybe delivering food on time. My driving isn't the best I guess ;).

I also don't like the fact that I need to restart it once or twice so it actually plays without freezing. I have never had issues like this with any other game. I know the game is demanding on my iPhone (3G) but I don't think that's a good excuse.

Great game though overall. Definitely worth the purchase...mainly because I've actually played it more than once or twice, unlike most games.

Yeah I find that annoying too. Especially when reversing, as it never centers so I tend to steer wrong. Why didn't they just have a reverse view button?

i think what was needed was a little pollish to the game. thinking about extra vehicles, buildings to snipe from, abil. to sell stolen cars, police chasing you even when hiding under the bridge in the spill way, (although they will follow you in there if they are on your tail, but new ones won't appear), a few more weapon choices, and being able to replay missions.

it is amazing what they did, and i still love playing it, but somehow i want more. :) if they don't update, i think they leave the door open if rockstar/someone else to come out with one.

I can't be the only one experiencing horrendous freezes every time I play (or better TRY to play) this game can I?

I'm on an iPhone 3G, not jailbroen at all.

Every time I'm in a car the game hangs for ages and often.
If I rebooty phone before I play then it's better but I don't really want to do that every time I wish to play.

Really curious as I haven't heard anyone else complaining about this game breaking issue and would live to find a solution or prompt a fix.

Playing this game kinda makes me want to seek out similar iphone games, namely car jack streets and payback. I know they're not on the same level as Gangstar, but can anyone tell me if they're any good? Maybe?

Well there have been some discussions about the freezing issues in this thread.

From my experience with the game there seem to be 2 solutions:
    1. Do not use the ipod playlist feature. It nearly always causes the slowdown/freezes for me on a 2G Touch.
    2. If you encounter persistent problems the best solution i've found is a quick restart of the iPod. NOt ideal, but it seems to work and I can play for a good while - well until the battery dies!

Thanks for the tips. I actually found another way to solve it.

I switched off all push notifications in my settings.
Since then I haven't had any problems at all.
I suspect IM+ was the real culprit so I'll start bringing on notifications one by one but right now I am just pleased I can finally play the game.
