I managed to make this game run super smooth now on my jailbroken iPhone 3G and that includes high speed driving :D

Firstly, an OBSERVATION of mine. Even with Safe Mode on, some mobilesubstrate extensions like Winterboard still use a little CPU I guess. Before you guys start ranting at me at how Safe Mode is supposed to disable all extensions, I actually went to uninstall Winterboard and it runs very smoothly now without being in Safe Mode.

    Err, no.
    GTA: Vice City
    GTA: San Andreas
    GTA: Liberty City Stories
    GTA: Vice City Stores

I'm currently playing the prison levels, they are pretty hard.
The inituation level was tough, now I am stuck on the escape level - I keep on getting sniped by the guards!

Spoiler: Juanito Dies

Get nearer to the guards and side step instead of walking straight in their line of sight.

Is the dialogue in this game good as in the GTA games? Can you do side-missions like Taxi Driver, Medic, Policeman, etc?

Only text dialogue, no voice acting if that's what you are asking :( The dialogue is alright, a bit silly 'gansta' talk, but some of it is pretty funnny.
You can do side missions such as Taxi friver, Medic, Fast Food delivery and street races.
It is a great game, just like GTA. I would highly recommend it.

i know it! maybe helicopters would've been a bit too hard right now, but why not semi-trucks?..

Yeah I have sudden freezes that last about 7 seconds until it unfreezes. Does that like every few minutes, it's damn annoying.

RESTART YOUR DEVICE BEFORE EVERY PLAY. Its the only way i've found to ensure solid performance.

EDIT: Also avoid selecting your own playlists too.

On of the best games for iPhone :)

It actually IS a game like GTA3 - large city (slightly bigger than Portland in GTA3) totally in 3D, free roaming with side missions, GTA-like main storyline, lots and lots of cars, radio with commercials... the only thing is that dialogues are not dubbed. But it's a small thing. Game is amlost 200MB already, and Gameloft won't hire as good actors as are in GTA games anyway.

Gameplay is smooth even on classic iPhone. If it's not, just restart phone (power+home until Apple logo shows up).

All in all - must buy! :)

You dont need to restart your device every time you try to play. I restarted only once when i bought the game and its fine.

I realize this is about 10 pages back but I've had the same experience. Running on an iPhone 3G, jailbroken... I've gotten pretty spotty performance. It crashed on me twice in a row as well. If your friend has SBsettings (and almost everyone who jailbreaks does) have him put it in Safe Mode before playing. It disables all Mobile Substrate add-ons and basically runs like a non-jailbroken phone. It's the only way I've been able to play this game.

After the first crash my game runs smooth as can be, no freezes or crashes, didn't have to restart ipod.
