Probably not cause you're the first person I've seen report a crash, I'm on the iPod Touch 2G and it's been fine so far.

Don't think so... it's only been out half a day, did you really get so far you can't start over?

  4. Been giving this a run and so far I'm loving it. The city isn't very big though. However, the controls are about what I expected and they can be changed between schemes (both for on-foot and driving, each individually) which is good. It's got the service vehicle missions, so you can make some cash stealing an ambulance or cab. The camera is sluggish, but you can drag around the screen to reorient your viewpoint, so it's a minor inconvenience. No crashes so far, but I wouldn't expect them on a 3GS given the extra memory.

This is one game I'd love to see a 3GS-enhanced version of.

Haha maybe the question should be: Is the icon so worth it that I should lose my progress...

I think i'll just wait it out until iphone 3.1 and live with it if theres no other fix.

How many can run this on jailbroken devices?

I just got back from a buddies house who (sadly) bought this. His iPhone 3G is jailbroken but just for the unlock.

It is terribly jumpy, slow and just utterly painful to play with 40-50mb free memory. When I say unplayable I mean worse than Worms/Duke bad, MUCH worse. He installed and restarted his device and upon loading to 100% back to back times it sent him back to the springboard. Okay uninstall and reinstall, restart device again. This time turned wifi off and skipped selecting play iPod music. This time it loads but the intro scenes skip and jump so bad you can hardly do a thing.

Not to mention load times are horrendous, much worse than Assassins Creed. Any out there with a jailbroken device having the same issues? Let me remind you all he has is the unlock on his device so jailbreaking should not cause this type of terrible game play.

What you're forgetting here is that no one buys just 'one' game off itunes. You can't use the 'it's only the price of meal' analogy when everyone here buys games all the time. I'm nowhere near an addict and I've already spent over $100 on games in the last six weeks. That's ridiculous if I think about it. That's a substantial amount for such a time wasting hobby like this, and the majority of those games were all 99 cents. Seems cheap when you see the price, but if you keep hitting the buy button every time you see a price drop, you'll soon be broke. If the games were 25 cents each, we'd buy even more of them, and the total outlay would still be the same.

Damn. I'm only at like 12%. That's because I love screwing around on the game.

I agree. I usually buy three games at once.

Umm.. Actually, he totally can make that point because everyone buys food all of the time. An iPhone game and a food item are relatively around the same price and you'd need to buy more of them.

You spent $100 on games in six weeks and you're not an addict? Dude, If you are always wanting much more in order to be satisfied, you are an addict.

I've spent less than you have and I've only bought two $.99 games.

I'm a bit different in that way. I don't buy games because they're cheap. I buy games because I like to play them. Therefore, I buy less of them. Maybe you aren't an addict. Maybe you just don't know what you want. But if you aren't an addict and you aren't happy with any of the games you buy, then maybe you should move on to another handheld, like the PSP. But good luck finding a good model.

Runs fine on my jailbroken 3G when in Safe Mode. Moderate lag during driving is making me drive uber slow to make it moderately smooth. Great game as usual from Gameloft but once again, like Hero of Sparta and BIA, more optimisation could be done. Terminator Salvation had great graphics, gameplay and it ran smooth. Wish it could be done for this game or even a low detail settings like what Worms have would help. In a game like this, graphics dont matter much to me, framerate does.

Another shortcoming is the length of the game. Ive only played for roughly an hour and I already completed 20% of the storyline. BUT, its only the cost of a meal so ya. Not much to complain about...

Definitely agree with you on this one. It's a good game though, and definitely more than I expected. The game will last you around 5-6 hours though if you do the math along with side quests and messing around in the open world.

Nice video review Izzy... You are spot on. I'm gonna give the dual slider control a try after seeing your accurate steering!!! (except for those times you crashed:rolleyes:)

I would also like to say this game runs smooth on my 3G Iphone, as it does on your 3Gs. Although, Caveat Emptor... it has crashed exactly twice so far for me.

Guess that means it's time for me to start hating on gameloft. You know, those guys who insist on giving us games that push the envelope.

I am on a 1st gen touch and this works just fine. My device is not jailbroken and has 1 gb of free space. Not even a bit of choppiness (except when driving/walking through detailed environments). Although the loading times are a pain and it sometimes gets stuck at 8% and crashes.

just home from work about an hour ago.....so i booted up thee ol gangstar to roam around.

i just wanted to say.....i watched that one guys video review....which was pretty good by the way.....and noticed he was using the "stick"option to drive. i tried that way but found it a little difficult to get used to. i found out that the steering wheel option works best for me. the trick is.....you have to keep your thumb on the screen the whole time.....and with the steering wheel its pretty easy to keep centered once you get used to it. just slide your thumb left n right....then slide back to the center. its just like real driving.haha i also use the steering wheel controls for real racing too....

on a side note....why do all the driving games have to be slide controlled? why cant they just make it simple left/right buttons? so simple.......like mini taxis controls. just throwin it out there..........
