I haven't spent a dime either, just a lot of races for me and it made me buy everything. Im top on the leaderboard on 3 of the 5 races for the cars. Look for Evate . I have the NASCAR( StockCar ) level 3. I have the funny looking mask level 3, double hand gun level 3( i use the most ). I have the monster truck level 3. A flamethrower level 1, got it from a rich guy in a limo. Bought all properties. Got the abs level 3. Thats about it, im trying to find the indy car in the game in the pawn shop, when i first bought the game it showed there, now its not there. Also trying to get the grenade launcher or smoke grenade thing whatever it is. Its grey looking and you have to find the 60 fireworks to get it.
There are too many to deal with plus equipment failure. I got the missile launching helo and it usually blew up after two missile launches.
This. They even got the main character's name wrong. Who the hell is "Chris"?There was also pretty much no mention of the hundreds of missions you can do, or the fact that it's now actually worth exploring the city. The IAP system was also branded as extortionate right off the bat even though you're pretty much showered with items wherever you go without having to pay a penny. If they couldn't be bothered to play the game long enough to see what it actually offers they shouldn't've written a review.
Agreed. Hate it when reviewers don't even play a game long enough to actually put up a proper review. And Pocketgamer has slipped up badly in this area in recent times. And this is why I have to say, James did a fantastic job in his review on the TA front page. Many may not agree with the star rating in certain comments, but he most certainly played the game extensively, understood the platform it was being played on and gave both the good and the bad points. And understood the game. Anyone reading it got exactly what a review should be (but isn't in a lot of places these days), a proper in depth review of a game. With a proper judgement made based on an understanding of the game. The best, most comprehensive and thorough review I've read in a long time. A lot of review sites and reviewers could learn a lot from his approach. I was genuinely impressed with the review itself.
Honestly, I think this game is avg to below avg at best. Everything from the writing to the gameplay and the city is just average. The city has no life at all. It's so completely empty. Why is there so much debris flying around? Even the opening fight had no people in the audience. Not only is it lacking people but its also lacking a soul. I for one regret buying this. Just my opinion. I'm glad others are enjoying it, but I for one am not.
Lol I think this is Gameloft's best gangster games even better than Miami vindication. It's a little bit annoying the characters mouse don't move while in Dialogue though even on my iphone 5.
Is it just me, or does this control a lot worse than rio? The sensitivity feels ridiculous even on very low, the cars drive like they're on a slip'n'slide, even sprinting seems really imprecise.
I just bought it yesterday and after a couple of hours all I can say is wow! This game is fun. Personally I turned the control sensitivity up and the running and walking feel better- I like that he can't stop on a dime and has a bit of momentum when he runs. As for the driving it feels a little stiff but I'm getting used to it and am really having no problems . It's not perfect, but it sure is fun, and so far the story is pretty good and there seems tons to do. Frankly I'm amazed that I'm playing this on my touch . Also the frame rate is smooth and no crashes for me so far ( touch 5g ) ok back to playing
My biggest complaint would be the camera. It is never where you need it to be, behind the character, and it doesn't spring as fast as it needs to like when doing a quick reverse to forward while driving and even on foot. Having to constantly adjust the camera while not being able to fire at targets I can't see because the camera hasn't caught up, running into a wall or my worse, going into cover when you are just trying to pan to look are all repeated annoyances I experience with this otherwise great game. Perhaps its because the layout doesn't seem suited for iPad gamers (myself playing this on one) but I feel they need to add customizable button layout and address the look spring!
Have you tried fiddling with the camera sensitivity option, I'm wondering if that would help the spring back speed, and does anybody know what the 'movement' option is for it's off by default.
I hate how easy the game is - I can literally survive indefinitely with a 5 star rating, just zoom around the city/desert in a sports car repairing as needed. Out of ammo or health/armor/repair kits? No prob! Just head over to the pause menu and fill up Other than that, lotsa fun. Some shyt reviews going around, unfortunately.
Yeah I'm really glad I ignored all the negativity I've been having a ton of fun with this one . And that's what it's all about is FUN. Well hopefully they add more difficult missions or something in an update and I'd also like to see car damage although I'm not missing it as much as I thought I would Gotta rate it 5 stars for the sheer scope and variety of the game and for the fun factor. Plus like I said I'm amazed I can play this on my little touch.
It's an amazing game, ton of content and exploration, but I keep having this bug / glitch where my movement D-Pad doesn't work at all. I have to always close out of the app and restart it. Anyone else experiencing this? Also the button are very sticky.
I'm not sure why there's so much negativity out for the game... it's not perfect way more preferable to DH4 model for IAP. I don't think the money IAP is obtrusive and probably done in good taste. You can make decent amount of money... I've not really had issues that I'm out of money but I never call for help which costs ridiculous amount of money - not that it's required or anything. I mean compared to Rio making money in this game is really easy... or am I missing the point here. I do understand the game controls are finicky and imprecise but I think it's pretty much par for the course for these kind of games. I actually haven't bought any major upgrades from the pawn shop... is it just me or getting the SMG upgrade seems to be cost effective. ammo is decently priced compared to AR. I'm sporting SMG L2... Not having time to play this game too much - real life work is hectic this past week.
Are they gonna update this so I can play on an iPhone 5 without putting my phone into airplane mode? Sucks not being able to use Game Center at all...
