Anyone know if this will have large areas of open countryside? Or will it just be the city/beaches? Rio de Janeiro could refer to the entire state, that's all. A little off-topic but what other games out on the store have a large sandbox environment to drive around/fight in?
Driver by Gameloft for driving around. Obviously GTA Chinatown Wars for the whole shebang. Some older ones are Payback and Car Jack Streets
I hope Gameloft will support this game more than the last Gangstar games. Maybe some frequent updates to increase weapons and vehicles in the game and even to increase the size of the map.
Knowing Gameloft: No, they won't. They'll release a premium game and they'll fix bugs, maybe add a car or two, but there's no chance they'll increase the map, or likely add most things. That's how gameloft rolls i guess though.
Judging from watching this, it looks like they've improved this series quite a bit. Unfortunately, I also just watched the trailer for GTA5 (several times) and my brain exploded.
Confirmed from their Facebook Page. "Gangstar Rio: City of Saints for iPhone and iPad will be released on November 10, 2011!"
Could someone post the additional screenshots? Don't want to like Gameloft on facebook, have too much (corporate) spam already in my wall
That works perfect for me because I have a day off on Friday the 11th and then it's the weekend so I get 3 days of Gangstar Rio!
http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/Multiformat/Gangstar+Rio%253A+City+of+Saints/news.asp?c=34505 New hands on. Doesn't really reveal much.
LOL Gameloft rolls like a business: they don't reinvest in a $5 product once it's finished and on the market Seriously though, think of this more like the Classic gaming period. There were no updates, addons or even bug fixes for NES cartridges. It was better in a sense because Devs had to make absolutely sure their product was "right" before releasing anything.
I fully understand your point. However, we are now in 2011 so we can't just expect our games to still be like during the NES era. On the other hand, look at it this way, many smaller game developers still continue to support their games after release (Cresent Moon is a great example) so why cant Gameloft do the same? Regarding your point about not reinvesting in the finished product, I say why not invest in it some more after it released so that it attract other people that don't own the game yet? Even better it gives incentives to the people that already own the game, which make them most likely to check out any other new games that the same publisher releases. Its just business 101
