If you think this game will be released tonight, you don't know Gameloft very well. They're clearly keeping an emargo on any hands-on footage or further previews.
I know how Gameloft acts. Since Gangstar Rio is their Youtube background and since Gameloft said a week and a half ago on their forum that it's coming "within a few weeks," this game might be released tonight. I know that it would of already been released in other parts of the world by now, but we haven't heard anything yet, and Toucharcade usually waits until 11pm to publish their "coming tonight" article.
I don't think Gameloft is foolish enough to release it so soon without advertising some more first. Gangstar 3 Rio has come a long way since Gangstar 1 and had become one of Gameloft's biggest franchise. So i think Gameloft will try to build more anticipations for it first before releasing it. Maybe they will release another trailer soon.
I agree with you that Gameloft will probably release another trailer before releasing Gangstar Rio, or at the very least, they'll make an announcement on their Twitter account about a week before the release, similar to the Tweet for MC3. Yesterday, I thought that this game would be released last night because a Gameloft employee/game reviewer with inside information said that it would be released within a few weeks on October 8th, but I was wrong. Gameloft either changed its mind with the release date, or the employee/game reviewer was wrong with his estimation. My guess is that Gameloft will release this game 2 or 3 weeks after releasing MC3.
The world certainly does look alot more detailed than the world in Gangstar MV from what I can see in those screenshots!
For me, the only downside of this game is that there are almost no people on the streets... especially in rio...
Not to call you out on that or nothing, but that was the first thing I noticed that there is people filling the streets and even the beach.
Impressive. Most impressive. The draw distance when in an airplane looks very good, much better than Miami Vindication if I remember correctly. Hopefully these aren't iPhone 4S screenshots and it'll look this good on 4th gen Apple A4 devices with the iPhone 4S perhaps pushing the view distance even further. It's interesting though that vehicles can have realistic shadows matching their shape, while people still resort to blob shadows. I don't expect all the AI pedestrians to have realistic shadows, but it'd be nice if your own character had them.
I'm not as pumped for this game as I expect myself to be. I was extremely excited for the last two Gangstar games, but this one doesn't seem to excite me much. The fact that we can fly a plane does give me some hope, and the graphics sure look good. I guess it's because the map isn't larger than Miami Vindication.
I'm not as excited as I was for the other two Gangstar games because what else are they adding new to Gangstar Rio? ATV's and planes and that's about it...
better draw distance, more people in streets, ability to enter buildings, better overall graphics, new close combat weapons, better animation, character customizaton... each gangstar has gotten noticeably better. people always rag on gameloft and while they make mistakes if you remove gameloft from the picture you take a lot of good games out of the app store with it. while a larger map is always welcome, i didn't feel that MV was too small. If you can go in just about every building this certainly will make the world feel much larger.
For some reason the statue in the picture with the plane looks wrong if anyone has been to rio they know what im talking about And that statue better be in the front of the island
-Better graphics -New missions -New maps -Go in buildings -New weapons -More people And so on! And that's not exciting?
