Draw distance, graphical pop-in, framerate, glitches. Rarely do I say this about a Gameloft game, but the way in which this game performs technically will be the most important aspect. Gameloft did a very good job in the trailers for both of the last two Gangster games in disguising the game's general poor performance and, most of all, it's weak draw distance. I will say that player models have been vastly improved this time around and it seems as if people's lips are moving as they speak. Obviously, there are signs of an upgraded engine on display here.
I think it can be done on the Apple A5 with it's dual core CPU and GPU. We'll just have to wait until the Apple A5 can be made the minimum requirement, which is probably 2 years away.
Right now the game has a rather small number of people on the streets in some zones (not that low compared to MV). But keep in mind that the game is a rather early beta version so it will have a lot more polish later on. As for the other two questions: Yes and Yes. Or you can just play GTA IV on PC. There are tanks in the game. If you don't trust me, check the Achievement list posted earlier in the thread. Also, for the people asking about this using the Unreal Engine: you people don't actually understand the concept of a game engine. How could you possibly use a FPS-oriented engine in order to create an Open World/Sandbox game on a underpowered platform?
So is it me or did anyone notice that the entire trailer seemed to be set in the same area? That beach area. I hope the map is larger than MV but it is kind of weird how they showed only that little island.
the graphics seem to be the same as in MV. read: crappy the engine is the same and the textures are as low res as they were. Still hope they will improve it. Drastically
Go see an eye doctor -- I'm not kidding. From articulated fingers to facial animation, to much improved vehicles models, this is a big step up for the series, visually anyway. It could certainly be improved, though, and I hope that GL puts the time and effort necessary to polish the experience. To say that it looks the same as the previous one is silly, though.
Yeah... I'm hoping the actual game will be better... We'll just have to wait and see, I guess... I'm wondering if this game will have 2nd gen support?
sorry, but i hope it won't. people complain about no people in the streets and not polished enough graphics. this cannot happen unless older devices are left behind. imo, iphone4 should be a min. requirement or atleast with full graphics on with perhaps ability to turn off some graphical features for older devices. i get tired of older devices holding quality apps back. i know that comes off as a jerky staetment and i know everyone can't just buy the latest and greatest device (myself included)but we'll be better off in the long run dropping support for older devices. i'm aware that gameloft will appeal to a good chunk (majority) of the devices out there to maximize sales, etc etc.
Take an example of Microsoft,Do they port their games to the original Xbox anymore?no they don't,if iPhone wants to be a fully fledged console, then we will have to leave this. I know many people have the older generation of the iDevices but they will have to admit that this or that game just cannot work on older devices.
So do people think there are gonna be helis, boats and motorcycles? They were in MV but I saw no sign of them in the trailer.
