I hope they do a vehicles trailer. Or tell a little of the story. The vehicle trailer would show all boats, bikes, helis and cars in game. The story trailer would just tell who we are and what our howl is. I bet the date is september 24th.

Graphically, the same cr** than first... I wish the companies use all the potential of our devices. Yes, a lot of people still using 1st or 2nd gen Ipod/Iphones... but, when are the games going to evolve? Are they going to go to the next level when the next generation will come out? Today, with the 3rd gen devices in the market for a year, games like this are still coming out. Tomorrow, we will buy 5th gen cells for nothing, because we will have had a games with 3rd/4th gen look... this is my opinion.

Sorry for the bible and for the off-topic.

I would say that currently the 2nd gen devices are the most popular as thats when the app store started to pick up. Gameloft aren't going to want to exclude 2nd gem devices as that's where most of the money will come from. Although soon I would guess that there may be iPhone 4 editions from gameloft. Eventually (Probably next year) the 2nd gen will be gradually phased out

I believe 1st and 2nd gen devices probably amount to 50%, if not more of the iOS installed base. Afterall, the 2nd gen iPod Touch was still on sale earlier this month and Apple was basically giving them away for free with the Back to School deal. I'm very happy that big name engine developers like Epic are drawing the line in making their engine OpenGL ES 2.0 based and requiring 3rd gen devices and up. However, for a company like Gameloft who relies on volume and will likely have their title drop to $4.99 awfully quickly, unlike GTA which can remain steady at $9.99 and still drive demand, it wouldn't be smart to exclude half the market by making a game require a 3rd gen device and up so quickly. And making a well optimized OpenGL ES 1.1 version with some texture, draw distance, vehicle/pedestrian density scaling for faster devices is probably a better idea than splitting resources on separate OpenGL ES 1.1 and 2.0 versions.

EDIT: And I'm not sure where the expectation that it's a travesty that games released 1 year after the iPhone 3GS was released aren't pushing it to the limit comes from. There are always going to be games like Crysis that push things to the limit and Project Sword and RAGE look to be doing that for iOS later this year. At the same time, even on PC, a brand new PC exclusive game like Starcraft II, with no accusations of consoles holding it back, still uses DirectX 9.0, released in 2002, and can run on the Radeon 9800 which was released in 2003. It scales graphically, but certainly doesn't push the limit of year old GPUs. For an FPS, there is more of an expectation of good graphics, but for an open-world game like Gangstar, if they have focused on content with a noticeably bigger world that is more alive and with more things to do than the first Gangstar, then I'm willing to temper my graphics expectations in exchange.

Lol, why would it feel weird without a countryside??! You know how boring the countryside was in San andreas!!??! It was a pain in the arse to have to have to go from one end of the map to the other!

You're right, but Iphone games market is growing up very fast with different segments: casual gamers, role playing games with many hours of gaming, action games... Now, games with a story are coming, long games. For example, games like Forgotten Memories, a good-looking game of psychollogical horror, wich is scalable. Let's wait for the price, but i don't think it will be much more expensive than Gangstar 2, and it is made by a more little company than Psychoz Interactive. Gameloft have the resources, but Gameloft don't take the step because they are transforming into a money-makers, so they want to earn money, not to invest it.

I meant for the helis. Flying around a city in a heli just always felt weird to me.

ok, so now that you can fly a heli, I'd also like to see other helis flying arround town and also jets flying across the sky high above!

There is no way the map will be big enough to realistically support planes. It's questionable as to whether the map will be big enough to support helicopers, to be honest. I know the helicoper will be in there, one way or another, but unless the map is 3 or 4 times bigger, having a helicoper will feel kinda pointless. The map would have to be like 10 times bigger than the original in order to comfortably support a biplane.

Have you ever played Just Cause 2? The map in that game is 400 square miles. And they have jets. Now that's what I'm talking about. Just Cause is the greatest sandbox game ever created.

Even the map utilized in GTA4 isn't big enough honestly to support a jet. That's one of the main arguments as to why GTA4 doesn't have planes. Because the map isn't big enough. (and realism this and 9/11 that. There are other arguments to be made, but lack of adaquate space is certainly a big one.)

Anyway, I'm just saying. If you have played Just Cause, you'll come to appriciate the need for space to roam freely in order to truly enjoying flying some sort of a plane or jet within an open world environment. It's unlikely that any open-world iPhone game will ever provide that kind of space.

If you had a jet in this game, you'd probably be able to fly from one end of the map to the other in ten seconds flat. Where's the fun in that?

I know that the map isn't big enough to support planes, I meant, that you can see one or two fly across the sky verry high above. You don't have to be able to get close to them or anything.

If you've played mirrors edge for home consoles/pc you may know what I mean.

Well this might be the size of vice city which had planes but there will be at least two types of helis. And I saw an above ground train in the podcast. Possibly you could ride the train to a destination. The map will probably be about 3 rimes the size of wch. There are at least 3 islands. Ithink there are four though. And please have accessible buildings. And she said that there will be a great soundtrack! Vocal tracks!

Probably it's only one model of helicopter. I doubt they placed only one helicopter on map. :D
