Honestly you didn't need to mention all of that, I'm fully aware of sequels, remakes, and ports. I just wanted to put in that article that said Gangstar was a port. I know that the original was a 2D game and the iPhone version is full 3D, thus it's pretty impossible for being a port, I understand that. But thank you for filling me in on some game history
I'm sorry that I was being quite an ass myself. But yeah, I was upset at Squeenix. I thought that since they made such great games on the GBA, that they would make a good one. I was wrong, but I can't help but wondering if they are currently working on a big iPhone game and just keeping it secret for the time being, but that's probably just wishful thinking. As for Rockstar, I hope they will one day give the iPhone the real deal with GTA, whether it's a port or an original iPhone game. The reason I said that they might disappoint on the iDevice is because I think that if they ever did come to the iPhone, they'd probably only give us Beaterator. Maybe... Just maybe a Nightclub game. But I still doubt they would put a GTA, Max Payne, Bully, or Red Redemption game on an appstore for $9.99 or less. Although, I hope they consider upping Gangstar. I do admit that even though Gangstar and Payback are my favorite crime games on the iDevice, they aren't much competition for Rockstar, and they would do great in sales. I would like to see bigger companies taking the iDevice serious. It could happen someday, but until then, I'm happy to watch Gameloft grow. As you said, they've only produced watered down versions of console games or just ported from their sister company, Ubisoft, but they've gone from making 2D Java games to adding some more content and making online servers for their 3D games, in just a year. And besides, somebody's gotta do it. I think if Gameloft gets big enough, their clones will make bigger companies want to compete with them on the device. As for all the well known companies here so far, I'm looking forward to the future of this device and where it all goes in general.
That's true. I can't knock em' really much as they are really stretching out into the scene in numerous ways. I think you bring up a good point that I hadn't really considered, like you said gameloft may very well draw in some competition from the likes of rockstar. Like you also said, probably not, but if gangstar has a decent following perhaps China town wars or a similar title may one day make it's way onto the appstore. I too am eager to see what awaits the device. I'm learning new things about it everyday.
