True indeed. The more money they make, the better the games will become, and I think we have seen that happen already from when Gameloft (and other developers) first started making games for the iPhone & iPod Touch. And the online play will add a whole new level to an already hugely ambitious game. I hope that if the game doesn't include safe houses, they will include them in a DLC upgrade, so you can change clothes, store vehicles in your garage etc. Riding bikes seems to be one that a lot of people want to see, me included. And also, I hope that there is 24 hour time, so it gets dark and there is night life. By the looks of the videos so far, this isn't included, but hopefully Gameloft could incorporate it into Gang$tar in a future update/DLC upgrade. I'd be interested to know what features other people would like to see in the future DLC upgrades - that don't seem to be in the game at the moment?
i have never played an open-world game..... how will they make it a sandbox game? just put a invisible wall somewhere?
Yep. They started out well too. It makes sense since the founders owners of Gameloft also founded and own Ubisoft. People here always seem quick to hash negativity for Gameloft, but I'm sure they all respect Ubisoft. But anyway, that's why they could port BIA and Assassin's Creed from the DS to the Touch. I'm hoping they do the same with Splinter Cell. Maybe it could evolve to GTA style co-op. Doesn't the story mention that Pedro stays with his friend's Cousin or cousin's friend? That could be a safe house. That would be really awesome! And it would be great if the motorbikes would be controlled the way you would on 2XL Supercross. But all I really hope for now is a 3D Payback. Hopefully, they will incorporate that. day/evening/night filters would be great. especially if there were long timed missions like in Carjack streets. Hmm, not much besides perhaps buildings one could go into, mini games maybe, strip club? lol But definitely bikes. To be honest, I'm already quite sold over with the "have your own radio station with 3.0" idea. I wonder how that works. Would we need to make a play list for it? Because I already made one.
wow.....this game looks sooo good. Cant wait for this. and also, i like that they have the steering wheelXD
The map looks huge on 0:44. I never thought the gameplay would go this far ... Very very nice, would buy it for 7 bucks or so, so hopefully this game will last a very long time with tons of missions.
I love your enthusiasm for Gang$tar and other iPhone games, CaseyLay. I agree with you that Gameloft receives reasonless negativity from a lot of people. I would like them to improve on updating games however, but I think that Gang$tar will change this. I would also love to see Splinter Cell ported to the iPhone & iPod Touch - I think it would be very worthwhile for "iUsers" and Gameloft. I hope that Gang$tar could someday have a co-op feature with the online play becoming available in Gameloft Live! I think it would be a very impressive feature. It would be awesome if that is the case. Bring on the motorbikes!! Yeh. Nightlife, access to some building interiors, and a few mini games would go down great. And so would a strip club or two. If you have ever played Touchgrind (an awesome skateboarding app), you can play your own iPod playlist/songs/album/artist while playing on that. I think Gang$tar will follow a similar, if not the very same method. You can build a playlist directly on the iPhone inside the game app. Very easy indeed.
With other games like Real Racing you can select any playlist, song or album using the standard iPod interface, so I assume it'll work like that.
I didn't get Touch Grind. I have Vans SK8 Pool Service. It's a very fun skating game as well with a good Tony Hawkish music list, but will not let me play my own music. I think that should be implemented on every iTouch game. I mean, the games utilize all of the other iPhone features, tilt and touch, which is all great, but why not take advantage of more of the iPone's elements, such as the musiclist? I guess Gang$tar will work like that. But it's going to take more of the GTA style song play (in car radio). it's cool, but I personally think they should take more advantage of the fact that it's an iPhone game. What I mean is, you earn money in Gang$tar, right? So you probably buy things too. That being said, they should give you the option to buy an iPhone in game so Pedro can not only use it to call his employers, bosses or homeys with it, but also listen to the radio and your music with it. It could show the visual of the iPhone being in Pedro's pocket and the Apple earphones being in his ears, so he (you could) hear the music while on foot. It would advertise the iPhone, be nifty to have in game, and overall would give the game a more "native to Apple gaming" feel. That's what Capcom should have done with their Resident Evil Degeneration game. Give Kennedy an iPhone as the communicator.
Several reports have already said that the game isn't complete yet, and is still going through tests. I'd rather have an incredible, complete game, than an unfinished game that I know could have been better. It should be ready for an August release.
I bet they're working on it now too, but I doubt that they'll release it early. They will want to build up as much anticipation for the game as possible before its release, and also to make the game as good as it can be.
I hope it does come out in August. It seems as though Apple has been making us wait lately with their long reviewing stage.
Apple has been taking longer to review apps, but I think this is because of the amount of new apps (that incorporate 3.0 features) being uploaded by developers. I think the reviewing stage has in most cases sped up again since the iPhone 3.0 and iPhone 3G launch hysteria has now ended.
