I find it very hard to understand why they would release a game of this populair genre of this big content and on this in proportion larfe develop time to release only for 7 bucks. Really? All their games had an price tag of 10 why this one 7. Maybe just maybe because of lack of content or it's getting bored pretty quicki dunnow but it's really weird. If it's a good product then people are willing to pay for it so i think this says something about the quality of the game
It's ok. Lately I've been coming here for updates on the game. I had a slight feeling that if I checked back, there would be news, so I did, and there TOTALLY was! The game looks awesome. I just hope they have reoccurring side missions to do aside from the 50 main missions.
I think it's that they realized how big a mental thing it is paying $7 over $10. It's only $3 different but in the app store people see that as a much better deal. Plus most gameloft games will be starting at $7 or $8 like NFL 2010. Modern combat will most likely be the same
as for the pricing issue; gameloft is a BIG company, and pays people to market their stuff, research appstore pricing trends, and overall take into account the appstore climate. I'm sure this lower price point has been talked about, and researched to death by them. with that said, im sure a bunch of kids whining on internet forums was not taken into account. Also, in regards to content, im sure they have a dedicated staff that works with apple so they get it right the first time, avoiding rejection. this would keep costs down, and development time to a minimum.
Well, they aren't as big as people think. Sure, they are pretty big, but when they first came to the iPhone, the only experience they had was making Java games for cell phones. You wonder why Hero of Sparta was as short as it was compared to how long we thought it would be? Low budget, and maybe they wanted to rush a game to fill a supply and demand gap on the iPhone. That's why Gameloft takes iPhone gaming more seriously than big companies that come to the iPhone. It was a definite step up for them. The reason why they haven't updated their games is probably either because they aren't use to updating, or they are just trying to evolve as fast as possible. Either way, you can tell that the games they have out now are bigger than their older ones. Well, that and the appstore has been out more than one year, so the games they've been working on and keeping secret from us for a year are finally coming out. Well, another thing behind this lower price deal is that I think Gameloft has realized, after playing the market of iTunes for so long, that there are two types of people: Those who use credit cards/paypal who can actually afford big $10 games, and the rest of us. I think they've figured out they will make more money with a price that appeals to a wider range of customers. If you haven't heard, Gameloft is even making a $.99 game. $.99 is currently the most popular price tag in the app store. $7.99 being the second highest.
The pricing strategy is all about balancing unit sales and revenue, to ensure long life and good sales. A 10 dollar game in the top 100 makes more money than a dollar game does in the top 25. However, the one advantage of the dollar games is that they have visibility, something which a 10 dollar game is likely to never have. Visibility ensures sales. Therefore gameloft is trying to balance their prices so that they'll have more visibility while still keeping their prices high enough for great revenue.
August is shaping up to be one hell of a month.... imagine anytime now we will see Gangstar, modern combat, imech, minigore EP2, starhogs update, outer empire.... there could be more, my N97 weilding mates will be so sorry they didn't get an iphone instead
Gangstar hasn't convinced me yet. I'm worried my 1st gen iPod Touch will have lag issues and the city in Gangstar looks very boring... Then there is the gangstar-theme. Lame-ass 'mutha****as'... I'd love to see a mafia themed Gangstar instead. With cool gentlemen wearing hats
