Q: how many idevice users have an Xbox 360? A: Very few Q: How many Xbox 360s do you see on the bus, train, plane, coffee shop, etc.? A: None
Your first Q&A is ill-considered (what makes you think that very few iPhone & iPod Touch owners have an Xbox 360?) But I agree with the second
Payback may not be as good as some of the GTAs on consoles, but it does fix my desire for fun physics and the do-what-you-want gameplay. I like it quite a lot and I'm not sure where it needs improvement when it comes to a top down crime game. The fact that it's a 3D free roaming game on the iPhone. And it's an iPhone game that's been in developement over a year. It's also Gameloft's first ever 3D version of their title. How much more innovative can you get? Gang$tar will play differently then other cirme games you've played. But what about the people who don't have an XBox 360? What about the PS3 or PC? Or even the PSP? And don't change your words to allow lenience for those. You asked why there should be any port to another system besides the XBox 360. The answer to your question is simple. We are all people too, and we have desires also. The reason why games like these are made for every other system, is because developers and markets depend on LOTS and LOTS of customers... Not only you. I find it disgusting, inconsiderate, and offensive of you to say that gaming markets should only supply to your demands. What about the rest of us?? Do other people not matter to you? You think you're better than everyone else, Pal? Umm.. Line games on the iPhone are not at all innovative, whatsoever. It's already been done before on the iPhone and doesn't bring an innovative experience to the iPhone if a game of that genre is being released for the second time. A 3D GTA clone for the IPHONE!! is leagues more innovative than another line drawing game. The iPhone and the XBox 360 are two totally different systems with two totally different markets. That's two different worlds!! That being said, I still wonder why iPhone games that copy console games are considered "ripoffs" when iPhone games that copy other iPhone games are considered "innovative and original". By all that counts, it just doesn't make sense, and it should be the opposite.
I can't help but think Apple is going to have a field day with the content too. Apple is ok with slight violence (running down pedestrians with cars) and copyright infringement but sex tapes and prostitutes won't pass the Apple review, at least I wouldn't think so. Think of the children! I fear Duke Nukem is going to get the same fate seeing as the dev is keeping the original content. We will see, Apple has been just plain nuts over the last few months. Well actually they have been crazy since the app store inception.
I hope in Gangstar, they make it possible so we can climb up nearly EVERY building, and just snipe people from there. Like that's what I do in GTA:SA. I just stay on high buildings, and shoot people from there.
I think that there will be a jumping ability... there must be. Like in brothers in arms, when you come close to something that you can jump over, the jumping icon will appear. But anyway, if that doesn't happen, I'll just go up a car park, or something like that. And gun people down from there.
I know what you mean, jumping over obstacles like sandbags, low walls etc. They may include that in the game. I doubt there will be any 'free' jumping like in most GTA games, where you can jump whenever you want. Also, not sure that there will be any multi story car parks either. We'll see when it comes out. The game still looks good though.
I really hope that the game's size will be no less than 200MBs. Otherwise... well you all know what I mean :/
There are many compression methods. For all we know the game can be any size. (i.e. Resident Evil Degen, Real Racing, Zenoinia, Sims 3, etc.)
I hardly have that much room left on my 16 gig, have to start deleting songs and apps really really unfortunate. Anyone know any compression methods?
Really, instead of comparing this game to GTA, we should compare it to Gang$tar's prequels, to see if Gameloft has kept the same content, if not improved by adding more. In the ones for cell phone, the character is able to climb on top of something that is around his height and snipe from rooftops. The previous Gang$tar also had quads. While the quads are doubtful, I believe the ability to climb on top of a building might still be implemented, since we know they added a sniper rifle to the game. They usually just submit games around a certain time. This doesn't mean they rush things out to meet consumer demands, but it just means that they follow an odd schedule. Gang$tar: West Coast Hustle has been in development for a tiny bit over a year, and apparently, since The Gang$tar official tweet page says they haven't even launched it yet, it's probably STILL in development. So most likely, you won't have to worry. They may even miss the date they said it would be out, but it's polish will be taken care of.
Well, the biggest components (in MB) of any game are the audio and the textures. Compression will reduce the file sizes, but also the quality - its a bit of a double edged sword. What you need to do is find a good balance. Those games you mention have a relatively small amount of audio - just a few music tracks and some sfx.
