I'm looking forward to this as well, but I would be very surprised if it's "a million times better" than Blades of Fury. In any event, from everything that I've read about Hybrid, I think we're talking about two very different (and worthwhile) games.
That's because you've just spent 3 hours. It was all sweet until you hit level 3 and realise the game is repetitive and made up of 90% grinding. It's always grinding and grinding and doing the exact same thing on every level: find the guild of light / night, complete quests, grind grind grind then beat the boss. The only reason it looks good is because there's no Dragon Quest, Golden Sun, The World Ends With You or Final Fantasy on App Store. Haha so true.
Actually, I reached about level 16 in 3 hours. Of course it doesn't match the classics available on other systems (although I'm not a huge fan of Golden Sun, or any of the RPGs on either the DS or the PSP, although I concede that they easily beat whats availbale on the appstore). But it still feels like a 'complete' game, not one thrown together in 5 minutes. It might not be a classic, or even a particularly good RPG, but it's not a flash game that took one guy a few days to make. The quality level is fairly high, even if the game is pretty monotonous. In case you were wondering, the RPGs I do like are things like Fallout 2, planescape, Morrowind, Oblivion, baldurs gate, FF7, FF8, diablo (RPGish) and deus ex (FPS RPG?).
I must say I completely agree. Zenonia is amazing, but compared to games like Sword of Mana (which everyone seems to have forgotten about) or Mario and Luigi (again forgotten) it's just not the same. Nonetheless, I love Zenonia and it's one of my most played apps. Can't wait for the second one.
I wonder what is taking apple so long to approve this game. Been checking on this site everyday to see if it got released but nothing other then disappointment
SlideToPlay claims that the game is close to release, but I think that's just wishful thinking, some Apple intern is probably asleep right now with a blinking inbox on the screen... Gamevil should give them a call.
I miss the days when a game went in and out of submission in a matter of days... Hopefully this won't take too much longer
This delay in release is great for TA and STP. People are checking these sites every day, bringing huge amounts of traffic, I bet. I know I check several times a day. Go apple. Your welcome, says apple. Maybe it's some type of twisted deal between the three....
At this rate, we'll be lucky to have this game by 2011... The guys at the review place whereever apple does their lame reviewing process HAVE to be taking a vacation or something. Man do I envy you guys who got to test this game and already have the final version...
so is this an RPG wherein the grind is side-scroll combo-driven? if so... neat! if not... I'm confroosed.
Lol i dont think that's EVER going to officially happen. Midway has never made an RPG before (as far as I know) and that'd be a weird place to start. Then again, the only rpgs that id made were fps games so you know it might happen. probably not though.
From gamevil twitter: "HYBRID: Eternal Whisper is going to come out soon. Very soon...." EDIT, newest tweet: "Got the approval from Apple. Will come out today or tomorrow. We just need to adjust our date on the system. "
I was reading that the game has no way to turn off vibrates... Is this true @Gamevil? Because that's just not acceptable to me.. It drains battery life, and gets really annoying overtime. Not to mention you can't play it while your gf is sleeping!
