About a year ago I made a note on some thread of things I would like to have on my iPhone.

There have been many great ports....but Dig Dug, Frogger, and Pac Man aren't the least bit interesting. Seriously....they weren't *that* interesting back then. The Oregon Trail was a nice addition...although I think it lost something in the cartoony fun and I am glad to see the Sims but I am not sure why my guy in town turns to a blue blob.

Below are games I really want back because I want my kids to play them and frankly because I like the memories.

    Heroes of Might and Magic
    Masters of Magic
    Masters of Orion
    Wesnoth
    Wasteland
    Legacy of the Ancients
    Civilization (earlier versions)
    Axis and Allies
    Battle Tech
    Armada 2525

I will gladly pay a small "porting fee" for these games...of $3-$10 that combined with many other people will make it worth the trouble. This is easy enough money.

I would like the original graphics because these are purely for nostalgia purposes...if you want to go hog wild and upgrade the graphics....go for it but keep the game play, thanks...

Here's what needs to be ported...

What we need are ports of indie developed strategy games of all shapes and sizes.

Games like Scribblenauts (quite possibly the greatest game ever made, and that's NOT an exatteration), Civilization Revolutions, Power Politics III, Oregan Trail, Plants vs. Zombies, Zapitalism (A FANTASTIC business simulation game), The Political Machine, PixelJunk Monsters, Capitalism, Risk, War Inc (Not the iphone game, I'm referrring to the Old PC game that was half capitalism and half Red Alert 3).

The number of ways that strategy games can go is nearly endless. You can make a business simulation, tower defense, a politics simulation, a space simulation, a world conquest simulation, a game where you play as the illuminati to create a one world government, toppling countries, starting wars, bribing politicians, fixing elections, manipulating the media, you can make it fun, you can make it serious or light hearted and campy, the possibilities are ENDLESS.

It truly is the one genre of games that hasn't been mined for possibilities nearly as much as the other genres.

And the best part is, the games can be made on a low budget and sold for cheap on PSN, XBL, Wiiware, PSP, DS and iPhone.

One of the most played games when I was in high school was Dope Wars. It's a crappy game by any stretch of the imagination, way too simple and easy compared to any of the games I just listed above and yet people loved the idea of a simple business simulation game.

Pixel Junk Monsters is the most popular game on PSN.

Hell one of the first big hits in PC gaming was Oregon Trail!

Clearly, there is a market for strategy games of all shapes and sizes.

What are some of your favorite strategy games?

What are some of your ideas for strategy game concepts? Do you like city building sims, world conquest sims, business sims, politics sims, space sims, real time strategy, tower defense, what? Which have you tried?

If you agree with this, spread this post. Post this elsewhere wherever you frequent, I don't care if you copy paste and don't quote me or link to this or anything. Just get this gaming request out there.

While it's new (and will most likely happen) but I can't wait for a Plants vs. Zombies port for the iPhone. Popcap is really good with putting their titles on every platform imaginable, so it'll probably be here sooner than later but I can't wait for it.
