I love this site and I love my Ipod touch. But because I'm locked in with Verizon I recently received the droid phone. So far the games are lackluster and there are TONS of forums for the droid as well as a few app sites that are mediocre and NOTHING compared to toucharcade. Does anyone have any recommendations for sites that cover android apps similar to the style of toucharcade here?
You're talking about Android....on an iDevice forum. Fail. But, while we're at it, all of GAMEVIL's games are on there - or so I've heard from a friend.
I have a droid too and itouch and i've been trying different sites/forums unfortuantley no site even comes within a country mile of toucharcade. imo I think Android is more for like real "apps" rather than "games"...the best forum overall is definatley AndroidForums.com..they do have a game section where they review apps...but ofcourse nothing close to ta....and they go really indepth in hacks, tips and tricks..so ya probably nothing close to ta..till Android shapes up their gaming....but AndroidForums.com on Phandroid.com is probably the closest to it................
Because there isn't any other forum out there which could actually deliver good responses. Basically, I have a T-Mobile Pulse which runs Android, and the games are bullocks. There aren't any good ones, and the ones which make it to 'acceptable' crash every five minutes. Android just isn't meant for gaming (sorry Android fanboys).
Thanks for the replies all. Agree with most above, because there are so few games that are decent the likelihood of a site the quality of TA for android games = slim. Thanks again
Well, I've been thinking about this. I've been with Verizon for about..3 years or so, and I do love the service they provide. I really wanted the iPhone for awhile for the online features, but since I have WiFi & I don't like AT&T, I'm thinking about just renewing in March and getting the Droid. I've played around with a few and I like them, I would definitely still use my Touch for my gaming needs though. Idk, I guess its just personal preference. I just like how Verizon phones are so durable.
Most (or maybe all) of Polarbit's games are on the Android (Raging Thunder, Wave Blazer, Armageddon Squadron, and Toonzwars (I think). They were all highly reviewed on the iPhone and later the android.
Hey, guys. I had been wanting to start a dedicated thread for iDevice apps that are also in the Android Market for a while now. Good thing I searched though, since this thread is already here. Anyway, I'm not here to compare the awesomeness of either platform. iPhone OS and Android are both decent systems with their own unique benefits and disadvantages. That said, I've had an iPod touch for a while now, and I have tons of games and apps. Back in the fall, I got the Sprint HTC Hero. I like it just fine, but one of its downfalls is a pretty lackluster and cumbersome app store. The absolute worst thing about the Android Market, to me, is not being able to see screen shots of the app in its description. Haha, WTF? Like the OP here, I've had difficulty finding a resource for Android apps as comprehensive and reputable as Touch Arcade. What I thought would be a cool idea is to compile a list of apps and games that exist in both stores. It's just so hard to "discover" new Android apps, I figure that the best way to do so at the moment is probably just word of mouth. So far, Hexage and Glu have provided some nice crossovers. Hexage has Totemo and Buka, and Glu has Bonsai Blast and Brain Genius. My wish list right now, includes the apps Awesome Note and Momento. These are two amazing apps that I'd much rather have on my phone than just my iPod. Any one else?

Android Gaming Site Android is lacking the huge selection of games, mostly because publishers have been slow in supporting the platform and are only now really getting to speed with bringing their games to the market. Still there are already real high quality gems out there and a huge wave is coming in the next few months. I guess one of the best places for android games is http://www.droidgamers.com - they are covering most of the stuff that´s coming out (with one or two exceptions though).
http://www.spacetimestudios.com/forum.php Pocket Legends and Star Legends Beta. Beta just opened and is available to android verizon users with V Cast. Just go to V Cast Apps and search star legends and download. Will be out of beta in two weeks.
Our game 180 has been out on Android for some time now, we've souped up the original iPhone presentation (it's now in HD) and it has some other extra features as well. Most notably, there's two DL options - get the full game for $2 (all characters and modes unlocked), or just get the free version which has most of that stuff locked up & is ad-supported. Over time inthe free version, this progress bar will fill as you accumulate playtime - when it reaches 100%, all the features will be unlocked and the ads will disappear as well! The game is very similar to others like Bust-a-Move and Tetris Attack (match-3 to clear, set up big combos and chains for crazy scores). The catch here is that you can touch any gamepiece and it will flip over to a backside color, so you have a lot of control over the way the game plays. Check it out!
