Great, Halo fanboys. Just because an fps has a futuristic setting doesn't actually mean it's Halo. Try to wrap your heads around that.
I know, its been getting hectic lately with all these halo fanboys, cmon now, Marathon was even more atmospheric than halo.
Well it's not really the "similar" anything that pisses people off. It's the blatant stealing. Again, as I've said the fricking UI from gangstar, is as close to infringement as someone could get without their ass getting sued. That's not cloning, it's stealing...get it. Shit why not make a 3d sand box game without.....Oh my god, the gta UI...what an idea..
When Grand Theft Auto get's their full 3D game on the AppStore, then we can worry about it. When Bungie makes Halo for the iPod, then we can worry about it. When Ubisoft makes Call of Duty for the iPod, then we can worry about it. Until then, there is literally no reason to complain.
Well appreciating and abiding by intellectual property, may be a fad on the out, I still find it ****ing insulting that gameloft would pander that conterfeit crap to me. At least make it less obvious, so I'm not incessantly hit in the face with it everytime I look at a screenshot.
You might be getting "hit in the face", but the rest of us are enjoying the great game Gamloft releases.
Yeah, I'd say that's accurate. Just trying to maintain the voice of reason. Far be it for me to ruin your gameloft fanboyism. I'm not here to ruin anyones "great gameloft releases". Just to provide a small vocal protest, to their unabashed, shameless approach at marketing to you people. That's all
Let's say that this magical game called 'Grand Theft Auto' comes out. Pretty big game, lots of people like it, but it only stays on three platforms. Then this little company (or not so little company) called Gameloft comes in and decides to make a game kinda like it for a completely different platform, that as far as we know the developers of GTA (RockStar) had no intentions of contributing too. So they make an original game with original location, characters, cars, etc. Then they run out of ideas. They need one little thing, so they use the GTA menu for a basic layout because it works so well. They customize and change it and submit the game. Did they really just infringe a major copyright? No. Will they get in trouble? No. Did they borrow an idea but then modify it? Yes. Did they copy it exactly? No. If you could not take and modify an idea to make it your own, every kid in school would be plagiarizing.
Gameloft fills a niche on this platform. While many of the games are hopelessly "influenced" () by other titles, they have brought some over that are original (Castle of Magic isn't "based" on any other company's IP) and they have brought licensed titles over (either movie tie ins or IPs from sister company UbiSoft). EA could do the same, and it seems that they're ramping up to do so...but they aren't there yet. Namco, Tecmo, Capcom, etc. could try as well and some have, but not as much as they could. IMHO, it's probably because they're JP based companies, and in Japan it's not like iPhone is #1 like it is in the western markets. The 800lb. gorilla in the room, Sega, seems content with scratching their ass and holding up the poo as if it were a prize. Going to the backcatalog is great, but doing so with an unoptimized emulator running ROMs isn't, and neither is not releasing any NEW offerings that push the platform as Monkey Ball did when the App Store took off last year. They're the most disappointing (Sega, I mean). So, honestly, Gameloft deserves some credit. At least they try. EDIT: Forgot to mention, in addition to filling a niche, most of Gameloft's releases on this platform have at least been good. So they produce quality experiences not only in production values but gameplay, IMHO.
Man. I wonder how far they are into making it. when i first saw the gun i thought that they where going to make a clone of The Conduit but then i saw it was a halo clone... I bet they already submitted it...
Guys, Stop complainning about anything. Just accept the good news, including rip-offs, clones, new projects. The gaming device iphone has been evolving to be close as PSP level and we have millions of apps than the rival. Before, many people didn't think that the iphone wasn't capable having FPS games. The following applications showed that it was possible ( I think these were the first ones): --> Cube Game Link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=292763299&mt=8 aMAZEing 3D Game Link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=304890496&mt=8 Those applications used a good FPS engine, making it possible for the big developers to bring better FPS with better gameplay. Some of the evolutions were Rip-offs (ex: Fear, Dooms, Quake, Halo, Call of Duty, Modern Warfare, Duke nukem 3D, etc...) Now, this new was a BIIIIG Surprise... The gameloft work pretty fast, they just released the Modern Warfare: Sandstorm. This is BIIIIG WOOOOW Rofl
