Why would it be free? Why should it be free? I don't work for free. My company pays me or i'll move on. There's no reason developers should work for free either. Eliminate is trying to make its money off add ons rather than the initial download, but Nova is not that type of game from anything I've seen or heard.
it should be free to compete with Eliminate. Eliminate will have maybe 50x the number people playing it, it will spread like wild fire. If people do end up buying the power packs, or whatever they are, it could probably make the most money ever for an App on the iPhone. We will probably do the same thing for Ravensword on the expansion pack if we hear good reports on that. I'm excited about both Nova and Eliminate of course.
making it free makes no sense. All it needs is better graphics, and a single player mode. Then people will buy. Me included. hopefully there will be more than a campaign. Maybe a horde or something.
I think people are looking for the multi player - more than anything - for an FPS. Free doesn't mean free either. Free with DLC means there is money involved. I wouldn't mind the single player version, but I do not want something with arrows telling me where to go like Sandstorm. If this is a Halo clone, then it should be all about multi player! I still hope they put multiplayer in Sandstorm. I'm a huge counterstrike fan and that would be similar to it!
Nova being free is the worst idea I've heard in a long while. Nova will be 6.99 and zoom to the top 10 on the strength of drawing from a now embedded Gameloft fanbase as well as Halo fans. You guys have got to understand that in the eyes of casuals (and even hardcore these days) Ngmoco as a publisher brand name is still a massive underdog, especially when compared to Gameloft which has been the EA of mobile gaming years before the Appstore.
I don't agree. I'd like to see a battle of the FPS's on the App store. I don't think its a level playing field if one is free and one is paid. Gameloft can do whatever they want though, its their game. I could care less who's better, but I think the competition just makes games get better. In the two years I've been watching the App store, I am just blown away by the evolution of games for the idevices.
Huh? Right now it's Gameloft's $7 games vs 99 cent indie apps, and yet at any given point there are at least 5 Gameloft games in the top 100. There are people who put aside money in their iTunes card just for Gameloft games cause they are assured a certain standard of polish and ambition. Plus Gameloft can have sales whenever they want. I'm just saying if Gameloft isn't scared of EA, they aren't scared of Ngmoco, a company that couldn't even keep their flagship title Rolando 2 in the Top 100 for a week.
I can't wait for this, in fact I'm looking fforward to this more than im looking forward to eliminate.
The free thing is only my personal opinion, has nothing to do with what Gameloft can or will decide to do. The whole Eliminate going free thing just sent a shockwave through all of us, especially the devs and other publishers. Just look at how that Eliminate thread has grown so fast! I am excited to play Nova, I usually buy all of the Gameloft games that look good. I do hope they will venture into uncharted territory with some original titles someday. They certainly have the money and man power to do it.
The only way it would work or would be in anyway equivelent would be if the first level of Nova was free and each additional level cost money.
I hope gameloft sticks to their guns because if ngmoco's pricing scheme catches on it will be the death of gaming on the appstore.
Don't worry, if Dungeon Hunter could hype people to the point where it got pulled for 2 weeks and still shot up to the Top 5 upon rerelease, Nova is gonna do even better. The real problem is when is it coming out. The video isn't an official trailer after all, but a stage demo, and like Asphalt 5, Gameloft loves to show off stage demos long before the game is done (as opposed to their game trailers which usually are only a few weeks ahead of game release)
why not make the Ravensword free? hahaha, just joking NOVA is not based in full online gameplay,so making it free is a really really bad idea i may get NOVA than Eliminate because our country is just beginning to be a WIFI zone, haha and i don't like upgradig thing on shooters,i just want to play with other people in the world with equal weapons and armors,so skills is more important
The online version might be free - depending on how well that whole free market DLC thing shakes out. I thought Nova was online though - which is why it would make some sense to do it the way Eliminate is doing it.
but i think NOVA is an action/shooter/adventure game it's not pure multiplayer game, actually i read that they just decided to add online after they finished the game, and so i think the online version cannot be separated on the original game,it should be together
I hope this one goes free! If not meeh i'll pass and just play eliminate all day, i just won't buy credits
Hope this game will cost 30,- and will be so awesome that people will actually buy it for that price (except for cheap people, they are not worthy of such greatness).
