I was too but after hearing mixed opinions of the game I'm wondering if its worth it at even a discounted price.
Gameloft games are usually terrible, with a few exceptions like Spider-Man. People who think they are good probably never played a good console game in the last ten years. Not to mention they are nearly always blatant rip-offs of other companies' games, which I find disgusting. And not only games: the " plain spectacular" (as described in a previous post) intro of Star Batallion is incredibly "inspired" on the very first scene of Star Wars III - Revenge of the Sith (Anakin and Obi-Wan battling in a spaceship over the skies of Coruscant).
Um yea, opinion noted. Was wondering when a post comparing device games to consoles would pop up. Kind of an old news statement..... If it wasn't for cloned games I don't think I'd be playing my device half as much as I do know. Must be very hard/expensive to find "original" products in other areas of life (that don't pertain to gaming) with this type of principle.
I think it's a perfectly valid point. All of the games I really enjoy on my iPod are the ones that I haven't played before and don't exist anywhere else... that's what makes them new, original, exciting and exclusive. I've played Soul Calibur, Resident Evil, etc all my life, I own them multiple times on multiple different consoles so I can't imagine why I'd want to replay the same thing again with less content, scaled down graphics and no buttons. It'd be pretty strange of anyone to dismiss a valid point just because they've heard it so many times, if anything that just gives it more weight.
I am sick of people dumping on gameloft! Gameloft may make clones, but only because there is no chance in hell that we will ever see those "real" games on the iphone. We will never see a real call of duty, god of war, grand theft auto, resident evil 5, or halo on ios, and that is why Gameloft is so awesome.
There's a reason we won't see those games on iPhone. They work better elsewhere. The big trick with game development is making the right game for the right console. Gameloft are just jumping on a gap in the market because the likes of Capcom/Konami/Rockstar know full well their games work best on other platforms and the games that work best for iPhone are the huge sellers like Doodle Jump, Flight Control and Angry Birds. The only reason I can see for wanting to play a Gameloft clone on iOS is because you can't afford to buy the real games and their respective consoles.
*sigh* Does the word "portability" have to be mentioned yet again? I could afford said console games but wouldn't have the time to commit myself to begin with. But then again I happen to actually like to play these iPhone/Touch games, clones or not.
Proves my point then. The only reason these games have appeal is because you can't get the real stuff. If you're stuck outside a lot, you're forced to play the cheap clones. Some people get to go home at the end of the day and play console games there, leaving the portable stuff to the games that genuinely suit it.
I don't see why you think these games don't work on iOS/Android devices. Gameloft is successfull and people like their games, so everything is fine.
I very well can understand your view on playing iPhone games that are original and by playing the full console versions leaves much less desire to play the iPhone's version. But by playing full console games and then trying to compare them to the relative iPhone games isn't making any valid point, no matter how many times its been ranted over. Actually, its a rather short sighted view point if any. .........and here I swore I'd never get into a re-hashed console vs device debate.
