1. NFS was by EA. 2. All of Gameloft's game have quite a lot of gameplay and replayability (maybe with the exception of Terminator: Salvation). 3. Assassin's creed was by no means a terrible game. It had nice graphics, working controls and was a crazily long game with tons of content. 4. ngmoco's games do generally have a bit more polish IMO, although I much prefer Gameloft over ngmoco.
While I like both Gameloft and ngmoco equally (but in general, not really that much), you gotta give credit to ngmoco for putting in the effort of coming up with backstory, several trailers, a website, a pairing system, RPG elements, multiple weapons, and lots of other factors in Eliminate. It's a fresh, original idea that kinda lacks a little in execution, but it's still really salvable, and for most, it works pretty damn well. They even let you play the game totally free if you want to, with stats and leveling to take into account. Now let's take a look at MC:S. What's the backstory? A guy that was injured goes back into service to kill terrorists, and that's it. ... ok. The controls were fantastic, I'm not gonna lie, but the gameplay felt stale after a while. Smooth as butter, but it feels more like a B game with a ridiculous amount of polish than an A game. It also feels like a complete rip-off, just like Blades of Fury ripped off Soul Calibur. The games feel great, you just don't see any passion or effort in them. Rolando had style and charm. These games look like Gameloft's just in it for the money, which yes, is a huge factor, I know, but shouldn't be the only dominating factor.
Most Gameloft games have no replayability, save a few. And how do we even know MC is getting multiplayer. Just cause gameloft says it, doesn't mean it is true (see Ferrari GT). We have seen no evidence of said update, at this point I think it is another lie to fool some customers into buying it. Once I see some screenies I'll believe. I am not a GL hater, as I have enjoyed some of their games a lot, but I'm just thinking rationally
+10 to that. Other than rolando (which isn't done by ngmoco BTW) which ngmoco game can compare to their Gameloft's counterpart during the same launch period? Topple vs OregonTrail? I think the loser became a free game which pissed off all the buyers. Dropship vs HeroOfSparta? I take HOS any day. It was the most awesome game at that time. StarDefense vs AssasinsCreed? We all know which game did better on the market. ngmoco don't even have enough games to go blow by blow with Gameloft.
Agree, assassin's creed is in my top 3 best games on my iPod, it took me 10 hours to beat, the game is amazing and for $10 it was extremely worth it, lucky and great deal whoever bought it for $5... and I don't think you can compare gameloft and ngmoco because gameloft has a bunch of high rated great games and ngmoco has some good games, but nothing special besides eliminate(kinda), and that's that eliminate is rated 3 stars in the US app store, I know there was a thread and I mentioned it's gameloft vs. EA and ngmoco vs. Chillingo, so there ya go
Only time will tell. Eliminate is a giant leap towards online gaming for the iphone, with the only issue being the pricing. I don't think we should attack gameloft yet, and give them a chance to see if MC:S multi will work out. If it does, Ngmoco might have to change their pricing scheme. But who knows.
Out of those games what exactly are you comparing? The ones you list have absolutely no resemblance to the other. You just picked random games out of each library.
oh i didnt know but i think i got it : gameloft is gonna try to put a live option in some of their games ? lol idk could someone explain to me ?
Jesus Christ! GAMELOFT released MODERN COMBAT with NO online multiplayer. They are currently making an UPDATE WITH online multiplayer. They are also making NOVA which will come released WITH online multiplayer. Here's a useful website: www.google.com
Let's just wait and see. Obviously you can't take gameloft on there word, on including online multiplayer. They said it before and didn't do it. I'll wait and see until they release NOVA. I only think they will do the same thing with NOVA as MC:S and that is making promises they don't keep, so people will buy it expecting they will get this "update" that never comes I know eventually it will come, but they know they need more time to give it. Still they use this cheap trick in promising people things too early, just for extra sales.
FAIL Why are you comparing games that are in completely different genres? Stacking game vs. time management (for lack of a better genre) game? Dual stick shooter vs. Hack & Slash game? Tower defense vs. adventure/platforming game? I don't think we can compare NgMoco to Gamloft yet because they have not made enough games in the same genre (MC:S vs ELIMINATE doesn't count because the focus of MC:S is single player and the focus of ELIMINATE is multiplayer). Besides, if you look at it, NgMoco is obviously going for the casual crowd while Gameloft is trying to bring console experiences to the iDevices (with a few exceptions).
Gameloft has been frequently asked in Twitter whether or not they are still working on the MP update. If they're already like two months into making it, and they're shooting for a December-January MP update, I don't think they'll give up on it. Seriously, I think they've been asked over a hundred times in Twitter, and the answer has always been the same: they're still working on it, and shooting for the December-January MP update.
They have confirmed twice that they will have the MC: Sandstorm update out. They are not going to lie about it. They have also released more games with online multiplayer - i.e - Asphalt 5, they are perfectly capable of doing it. Just because they didn't give Ferrari GT online multiplayer, it doesn't mean that they won't give it to MC: Sandstorm. Ferrari GT is well past it's expirey date, MC: Sandstorm however is still pretty popular. If they don't update MC: Sandstorm, I will stand in the middle of London, stark naked with 'ngmoco' marked in permenant marker all over my body while playing Eliminate.
