I hear the controls of Robo Rush are really bad. Is this the case? Is Triniti aware of this and maybe improving it? The graphics are nice imo and, well, ITS SMB!! If they made it as smooth as it is on a 25 year old console than its a must buy for pretty much everyone.
Are most of the games fun ? Usually these game packs with tons of games have very few if any really good ones. I am just looking for descent casual pick up and play games with openfeint for competition.
In fact, ACT game is always hard to control in iPhone/iTouch. So we will do our best to improve it. Most of the games are fun. Such as Archer, iSniper 3D and so on. I think you will like Archer. There are more than 40000 players upload their results with openfeint.
I love this it's really great value actuallly some games are really good, most of them are decent. I like robo rush but controls are horrible if they fixed it it has potential, my fav is ancient wars it's fun.
I love this Gamebox thing. The 59p entrance fee is worth it just for 'Ancient War' which I've been playing no end. It's brilliant, like tower defense, but greater! It's covered here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=26132 and here: http://www.148apps.com/reviews/ancient-war/ All of the other games are just a bonus!
None of them are lite versions, and they have been adding full versions from from the beginning. A few of the games are great fun like Ancient War (plus it has multiplayer) and Robo Rush.
My question -- is it worth it? Of course that question kinda sucks since you're paying a dollar for 24 games. But still!
FYI, there's a new update out with Iron Commando in the Gamebox! This brings the total number of games to 25. I spent a few minutes playing Iron Commando. It's actually a pretty good Contra clone. It's fairly no-frills in its implementation with the usual shadow-style we're all used to, but it controls well and is fun to play. Controls is a good issue to bring up. Robo Rush has terrible lag with its controls. Which is too bad. Being based on Mario, it requires absolute precision. The lag in the controls ruins the experience. Iron Commando has no such issues. I wouldn't say the controls are the best I've played, but they're very well done and easy to use. You'll find yourself annoyed that you didn't duck that last bullet rather than constantly cursing the controls. Which is a good thing! IMHO, the GameBox is worth $0.99 for Iron Commando alone. So if you've been putting off the purchase, now is time to reconsider.
I was going to say "all of them", but I took a moment to boot up the game and count. Looks like 21 out of 25. Looks like the missing ones are: iSign 365 KungFu Master AC-130 iSniper iSign 365 is actually an additional download, so it may have OpenFeint hidden away. iSniper refers to the original version, not iSniper 3D. iSniper 3D actually has a number of OpenFeint leaderboards.
I will pick this one up and give it a try. I am always skeptical with games that include many in one but I like casual games and I love openfeint so what the heck ! I did pick up a 101 game pack because people seem to like. It seemed ok, but game me no reason to keep playing. I guess opening up new games was not enough. Maybe openfeint will do the trick to get me to try these games
I made a little room for this last night. Really - pretty pleased with the dollar. I can see some of these getting played every so often. I've only tried a few. AC-130 is awesome. Iron Commando is a good time. I'll try to break down a short review for each game. This may be worth making room for...
Feeling the same way about the 101 in 1, most of the games feel more like a chore - at this point I don't even know if I'm going to bother finishing it. As for the Gamebox, I bought it when it first came out since it had RoadMaster in there (which I had almost spent a dollar on beforehand - Big Albie had said it was OK) and was pleased that there were a few other games in there that I liked. Nothing exceptional, but a lot for a buck. That was what, 12 games? Many of which were demos. Now it's a giant pile of games! Easily worth the buck, and the best "all-in-one" app I've seen so far... I boot this one up quite often for quick games.
I wouldn't want it here. Now with the 101 in 1, it would be welcome - chop the games down to a bare minimum and have at it. Would make for a nifty prize after you unlocked/passed all the games.
that was my thought for the 101-in-1 games set. I think for the 25-in-1 the games are too big and take way too long. What I like about 25-in-1: OpenFeint most of the games have leaderboards so the replay value is actually quite high. I think this makes up for the fact that there's no overall game framework (like Mario Party or something). I'm also noticing a basic dark silhouette theme to many of the games. It's as though they took the stick figure concept and slightly branded it. I like the recurring elements...
