Good idea!! A better UI would be good though and is it possible to switch to another game without restarting the app? drelbs Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2009 11,200 7 38 #3 drelbs, Oct 15, 2009 Initial Impressions It seems a thread on this game dissapeared. I caved in and bought it due to LordGek and you peer pressure types. These games are pretty damned mediocre. At least you get a good sized pile of them for your buck. There are 8 full games ($0.99 each in iTunes) and 3 lite versions (free, of course) in here. They are on separate pages, so you mostly see the full games, then click a different tab for the Lite versions. This is displayed like the ramps are in Ramp Champ, with number of plays and high scores recorded (almost) You can leave a game and go back to the menu and select another one. Here's my rundown of the games: Ace Destroyer: One of the better games, is fun to play, but feels aimless. You tilt the device to move your plane around, and tap to shoot machine guns and drop torpedoes. Kinda like a poor man's Afterburner. 321 Jump: Also one of the better ones, if it were a tad more animated, I'd play it more than Papi Jump and/or Rock Climber. Supposedly Bluetooth compatible, I will have to see how that works. There are ? boxes, which all seem to do bad things. Bubble Master: My favorite of the pack, (icon shows as Bubble Blaster) This is Pang with a great visual style. Tilt to move, tap to shoot. Bosses, etc. iSign: Decent amount of graphics/sound/animation, but boils down to a fortune teller. At least you get bits of Chinese and English to read. Does not update Scores/Plays iSniper: If you've played a sniper game on the platform, it should be on par with this. Tap to zoom in, tap to fire (tilt to aim while zoomed) Plays just fine, but is fairly bland. I wish the enemies wouldn't just pop into existence, if they'd lean out windows, climb up over ledges or walk out doors, that would improve this game a lot for me. This game did not seem to populate scores on the menu iUFO Catcher: I thought this one would be a throwaway, but it was fun. Mindless, but fun. Good theme/graphics/music, you tilt to aim your claw and tap to drop. I thought there'd be some skill to grabbing, but you just have to hit a prize with the hook to grab it. There are some powerups, but they all seem to be bad? Very easy, kids should enjoy this one. I gave up on it after a while (the game gives you lots of time) and just held the claw against one edge and tapped the screen repeatedly while I worked on something else... Operation iWolf: Kinda like the old Operation Wolf for the NES, the screen scrolls sideways and you shoot people. Shoot ammo and guns, shoot ducks to drop powerups/ammo/guns. Decent graphics and average gameplay. 2009 Road Master: This was the game that put me over the edge, it looked good when it came out. Plays horribly, car sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Only game I had (fairly low) expectations for, was dissapointed. The demos are free on iTunes, I won't review those. The description says two more full games are already in a sumbitted update, if I don't see that in a month, I might just ask Apple for a refund on this title. Right now I feel my dollar could have been better spent elsewhere. That would definitely change if all of the proposed full games via free updates do indeed come. DaverJ Well-Known Member Sep 12, 2009 89 0 0 #4 DaverJ, Oct 15, 2009 Good review drelbs! I also couldn't resist trying 11 games for a buck, considering some of them sold for $1 a piece. Yet as I tried each one, I kept hoping the next one would be better. I also experience a couple crashes when loading certain games. Not terrible, but my one dollar lesson learned with this package is: quality>quantity. Hitch Well-Known Member Jun 29, 2009 1,238 2 0 The Lonely Island #5 Hitch, Oct 15, 2009 Haha almost the SAME EXACTLY with me! I got it because of the promise that bowman defense would eventually be free, considering it costs $1, and I was gonna get it so yeah... Lets hope they keep their promise. Learned the same lesson though. Now lets do the opposite and get Dark Nebula! don_k Well-Known Member Oct 9, 2008 4,404 3 0 #6 don_k, Oct 15, 2009 Same here. Though if they fulfill their promise of giving Ancient War for free then I'd be quite happy with my purchase. I enjoy Ancient War and iSniper, so it's 50c each. If they don't give Ancient War the full version within a month, I'd ask for refund too. mek Well-Known Member Jul 18, 2008 1,268 17 0 Boston http://www.drafternoon.com #7 mek, Oct 16, 2009 i am pretty sure 11 games in 1, 8 of them full, 3 lite versions is only 8 games in 1, with three demos... at least the last time i checked, but maybe i am horrible at math drelbs Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2009 11,200 7 38 #8 drelbs, Oct 16, 2009 You are horrible at math, er wait no - I agree with you 106.5% Though if they are not lying about the update, then the next version will be an honest 10 games in one. spidey146 Well-Known Member Aug 14, 2009 2,610 0 0 #9 spidey146, Oct 16, 2009 i just bought and righht when i opened iwolf it crashed, fix this please Devilishly Good Well-Known Member May 1, 2009 9,230 2 0 The Underworld #10 Devilishly Good, Oct 16, 2009 tempted to pick this up only for ancient war and bowman defense...none of the other games really appeal to me skyye06 Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2009 5,396 8 0 student Texas #11 skyye06, Oct 16, 2009 Well then your in quite a pickle, as it may just be a false promise and if they don't then your left with undesirables that you paid for 99c...but if you don't and they actually do it, then the only gain in getting it after the sale is having it all in one app. @spidey had it happen a lot, just keep trying it and it will eventually show mek Well-Known Member Jul 18, 2008 1,268 17 0 Boston http://www.drafternoon.com #12 mek, Oct 16, 2009 i just hope you are being sarcastic for all our sakes... and i dont want you to get burned for paying 99 cents for two demos now don't get me wrong, i love the combo bundle idea this one just needs a lil work i'm looking forward towards the next update Devilishly Good Well-Known Member May 1, 2009 9,230 2 0 The Underworld #13 Devilishly Good, Oct 16, 2009 no...i meant that it was tempting because they promised to update with the full version of both apps...but will that really happen...? sunwind Member Oct 16, 2009 20 0 0 #14 sunwind, Oct 16, 2009 I've got one. Acidbottle Well-Known Member Apr 24, 2009 1,023 0 0 #18 Acidbottle, Oct 16, 2009 the games are pretty average i must say, but still appears to be good value. im not holding my breath for updates either, never expect them and seen many broken promises (and some nice suprises tbf!) anyways, crashing apps during startup is pretty annoying, but its the decline in frame rates the further into the games you get (more sprites/enemies on screen) slowing the frame rate right down to zero that ruins this package for me. whilst this is the case its not worth it even for free. kungfupanda Active Member Dec 12, 2008 42 0 0 #19 kungfupanda, Oct 16, 2009 Often crashs.
