the first angry birds was good for a while... but after 100+ levels it got boring. Then seasons only held me for Halloween and half of christmas. I'm not going to get rio though, since even the free version bored me. Tiny wings, however, I've had for months less and I've already put more time into it than Angry birds.
We really should be calling this thread GOTQ I have Bugs Heroes and League of Evil here... but haven't really played them. And about 3-4 of others in my wish list. Just have a huge back log of games...
So what iOs games have all these disperate elements in them? None? So for an iOs game...... ME is pushing boundaries? Even if you personally think it's sloppy and poorly put together, it's shooting for something no other game has on the system. Seriously people, no other game like it on the app store. No game pushing towards this size, this genre (fps/rpg that MANY people really like ala System Shock2, Fallout3 ect ect.) If there was a shining example of HOW to do this on iOs devices and it was universally hailed as awesome, then you are correct ME isn't pushing much. But there are none. You have RPGs.... and then you have FPS's. We've seen a few attempt this genre blend and those were even worse. Sure there are games like this on other platforms, but we are talking iOS here right? The same reason Dead Space pushes the iOs game boundary, so is ME. It's closer to a PC/Console game than most, warts and all.
So much passion dedicated towards despising Mission Europa... Whatever happened to good old video game escapism?
Yeah, this is a GAMING forum. Isn't it suppose to be fun to talk about games? With all this ME Rocks, ME Sucks crap going on, it makes me not want to discuss games here. Everybody has their own opinion, so can we just leave it at that? Personally, I think ME is a great game, sure it might not have the shiny new graphics that Gameloft gets to play with, but its still fun. Thats not to say Gameloft games are all show and no go. Because Gameloft games always excite. Games are good for different reasons, so to compare them is silly. And who ever said you can't combine RPGs and FPSs? IMO, you can combine any genre if it turns out great. So lets just forget all the crap that just went on, and just have a good ol' discussion about what we think is game of the (insert time frame here). k? k!
Voted FF3. Is Hot Springs Story really that good? What sets it apart from other franchise management games like Zombie Cafe, Sally's Spa, Supermarket Mania, etc? March and April has been really really slow months, nothing good came out. Hope they're doing one of those 10-great-games-in-one-day releases again.
Tons of great games came out in March. They just didn't appeal to you. It's an important life lesson, my friend: "I don't like" does not equal "bad." BTW, I voted FF3, too. Those 17 hours have to count for something .
I think what you're missing is that quantity is not equal to quality. I doubt I'm alone in thinking that I'd rather Mission Europa be an incredibly solid and polished 1 hour game than a clunky 50 hour game that most people will never see the end of.
This is kind of a pointless and fairly insulting argument, Eli. Clearly the people who enjoy ME do so because they like the gameplay; they're just amazed that there's 50 hours worth of it. The idea that they like it because it's a big game (or because they like Ryan, or because of the hype) is certainly comforting to those who didn't like it (as it suggests that ME fans are, well, masochists or idiots), but it's simply false. Is there actually somebody out there who doesn't "get" that quantity doesn't equal quality? I know this is the Internet and all, but you should probably give TAers a bit more credit. It's like talking about a John Waters or early Kevin Smith film. You can argue that neither director has any formal skills whatsoever: they don't know where to place the camera, their editing is ham-fisted, they can't elicit convincing line readings from their actors, etc. Doesn't change the fact that Hairspray and Chasing Amy are two of the most entertaining films of the last twenty years. Of course nobody is required to like those two films, but a critic who suggests that those who do are deluded is not really taking their vocation very seriously, IMO.
There's room for 50 hour clunky games isn't there ? I don't usually finish many games on IOS having lost interest in many. I've put 4700+ minutes into this. I'm collecting armour sets like a big 40 year old kid ! I think of my addiction to this game as passing some event horizon. The more I played the more I love it. I will never escape it's gravitational pull ! I see the game as polished and extremely satisfying to play. One mans clunky is another mans quality. This game is a rarity, there's plenty of one hour experiences. Respect to you for running the best IOS gaming site but I have to disagree.
Man o Man I want to change my vote. Ive played everyone of these games except M.E. . I just started playing DEAD SPACE and WOW. Frickin awesome. Battleheart is 2nd. Then Tiny wings.
I can't believe the ME arguement is still going on... I love ME and stand by it all day, but if this arguement is going to come down to polish and quality, then Dead Space would win all day long. I won't let anyone tell me different. It's shear perfection and as I said in my initial post here, all developers should be striving for that kind of excellence. Besides, they drop F-Bombs in that game. The bottom line is, lets keep this topic on track and let's all vote for whichever game, YOU the TA reader, feels is the BEST game. You don't need to judge others or justify your opinion, because in the end, that's all it is... your opinion. No one in this thread or on this website is right or wrong here and everyone of your opinions are just as valuable as the next. This was supposed to be a fun thread with clear and simple votes, not full-on battles with justifications as to why you think Game-X is the best or even better than any others on the list. In the end, they are all awesome games because either: 1. We all bought them 2. They were mentioned on the list
FF3 i don't really know why dead space was great and all, but i finished it in 5 hours i've put about 35 or so into FF3 i got bored of mission europa in 10-15 minutes it just doesn't have the polish, and i don't have the patience to put 50 hours into a game i don't really like how their mixed, but i can definitely see why so many people love it battleheart would have been my number 2, cause i think it really helped redefine ios gaming with the controls and microing tiny wings is a good game, definitely better tahn angry birds, but its just too simple i guess i love to play it, but its not what i play if i have an hour to waste
repost anyways, i would like to bring up, based on the first post, how exactly did mission europa even get into the poll? the op said he took the game of the months that were reviewed by ta, and based on hodapps comments, i'm pretty sure it wasn't one of the games?
