I honestly feel the same way. I do see the improvement over GDS, it feels like a spritual successor and thats great, but the nostalgia and the overall charm of GDS isnt as present.

Its still worth a purchase IMO, theres a lot of content and the price is deserved.

Ditto, after playing for few hours, I still prefer GDS over this game. GDS has a certain charm that this game is lacking. It's still fun, but not sure how long it's going to hold my attention since I've played GDS few times already...

This may sound curious, but have you tried holding your device in portrait mode until the game has finished loading? It has been reported by other users that this does not trigger the crash bug...

Yep I have... crashes to the home screen instantly after the splash screen, tried all different orientations. Even held it upside down, no luck ;)

I keep debating on buying this or not. I've played and enjoyed Game Dev Story, and this seems so similar. That's good and bad. Just going back and forth because I don't want to buy a game when I can go a download an already purchased game and play again.

I do keep seeing very favorable reviews for this game.

There is an update currently in review that addresses this issue. Should be available soon.

In terms of charm, I agree that GDS is much more charming.

But when it comes to realism, GDT has the upper hand. Your studio is consistently threathened with potential bancruptcy if you don’t manage your expenses well and if you rely too much on that one hit wonder to carry yourself to the future. Then, there’s the need to keep up with the technology because the critics seems to have a sense of whether your engine is outdated or out. Whereas in GDS, it’s very difficult to lose (or is it impossible?) and you’re free to experiment in one playthrough.

I don’t know if I made something wrong or if it’s a bug, but I finished a game (over 45 years) and I wasn’t able to research 3D graphics past V1. This only occurred on the mobile version (iPad Pro, ios11.1), while on the steam version I hadn’t any problems. Is there anyone with the same problem?

Did you level up 3D gfx by creating an engine and then using it ?

This feels to me like a spreadsheet game. You pretty much have to play in a certain manner to ‘win’: there is. It much room for error.

The original Game Dev Story was more cute and quirky with the story.

However I reckon that this game has more options in the end game.

Yes, I did. I restarted the game and again I’m unable to unlock 3D graphics V2. According to gamedevtycoonwiki ( http://gamedevtycoon.wikia.com/wiki/Custom_Game_Engine ), in order to unlock 3D graphics V2, you need 3D graphics V1 (which I have) and level 3 (which I have too: I have a guy with level 4, 3 guys at level 3 and 1 guy at level 2).
I think that this is indeed a bug

EDIT: My bad, today I succeded at researching 3D graphics V2. Like BlueTrin said, I had to level up the engine with 3D graphics V1. Sorry for bothering you

Add me to the ‘quite enjoying it but it’s not GDS’ crowd

Am I being really thick too, can’t see how to name my games so they are all ‘game 3’ Etc - i loved coming up with names in GDS - like my dating simulator series called Angry Birds.

Edit - now worked out you have to name game when coming up with the original combo to develop, can’t amend once you’ve started work on it.

No worries, I am glad you can level it up :)

I spent quite a lot of time on this game when it was released on PC, although I had more fun with GDS, it is still a fun game.

Reviews from apps stores and steam across countries are overwhelmingly positive. But here at Touch Arcade, the comments are relatively quiet.

I wonder why this game is so popular and so positive around the world.

I haven't played this game yet, but I'm interested in it. Of course, I also liked Kairo's Game Dev Story. Since I prefer pixel art style game, I am hesitant to buy this game GDT.
