Some are available after a set amount of time, while others only become available after you win GOTY once, twice, three times, etc. There may be other prerequisites to unlock other characters, but those are the only ones I know of.

Unfortunately you will not be able to get 100% achievements until/unless Kairosoft releases another update.... Two of the game types (Space & Jump rope) simply cannot be unlocked because the training methods required to unlock them were never implemented in the game.

As for unlocking the secret developers - it is not random, they become available after you achieve a certain number of GotY awards.

Oh! Sorry! Guess i should have looked that one up, how stupid of me. Just to ask, could you include it in your signature or will that still be breaking the rules? Didnt mean to advertise in that way, just thought it'd be helpful for everyone, sorry everyone! Wont happen again.

No worries. At the most, you'll receive an infraction, and the offending post will be removed, as long as you remember not to do it again :)

No mod has had any problems with my sig so far, so my guess is that we are both safe ;)

I've recently gone back to game dev story but have hit the same slump I hit with my first playthrough. The licensing fees are just too much. I bought the playstatus and spent years trying to make enough to by the gamecube. I managed to get enough just before the ps went off the market then a few months after that the gamecube went off the Market so now I am stuck with PC games which aren't giving me enough money to buy any other licenses.

    Sorry for the massive bump.

I tried to do the challenge where you can only make PC games and I got a hall of fame game by year 10. It's hard but eventually you'll get enough money to get the gamebox.

Since this has had a massive bump, I wonder why only Game Dev Story has gotten game center achievements. That reason alone made me dive back into the game for countless more hours. Still cant sell 100 million, argh !

Super addictive--I'm at 50 years with around $450 million, 5 goty, countless other awards, and a powerhouse team. I've consistently put out games in the 35-40 score range for the past couple decades, and my goal now is to create a complete monopoly on the games market. I just unlocked the GameJohn console and Kairobot as an employee and now can dev for that; just wondering, is there anything that comes into play this late into the game?

    Completely addicted to this game.

It's really odd how 'foreign' the interface feels though - as the TA review mentioned, it's almost as if Game Dev Story was originally written for an old Java-based resistive touchscreen phone and then ported to iOS. It doesn't use all of the available display, the navigation is very off, and it just feels wrong.

Still a fantastic game. I'm amazed there haven't been any competitors/clones yet.

Are we talking 'crappy knockoff which doesn't even bother making original artwork' type clones?
