There's another 1/2 users on GameFAQs who had the same problem so it might be bugged. They mentioned that the sales achievements can only be obtained before Year 20 though, were you within the timeframe?

No I was past year 20. Possibly the reason then.

This was 1.1.1 and it doesn't list what was changed.

I understand no has figured out how to unlock the Space and Jumprope game types yet. Can anyone help me unlock:

    - Cowboy
    - Egypt
    - F1 Racing
    - Harbor
    - Mini-skirt

Been searching all over and trying methodical training in vain... thanks!

Hi, i have a question. I just recently finished making my console after the long process of creating 6 hardware engineers. Now, I`m starting to assign them to their separate jobs, but their stats are pretty bad. For example, King Ackbar (who I`ve leveled up in everything to 5) and is a sound engineer now, only had a stat of 376 for sound, while the other three are below 300. Also, when I make him do a sound job, he only puts out 20-30 points for sound. I can`t train him up any further either. It just keeps coming up as 0. The rest of my characters are in similar situations.

Is this because I moved them around to different jobs too much, and thus lost a bunch of points? Is there anything I can do to fix this, or are they stuck like this?

First off you can train them to give them more points in different categories. Second you only need 1 Hardware engineer to create a console. Change the rest to either hackers or another type of worker.

Perhaps you missed it, but I wrote that I can no longer train them as it`s just giving me 0 changes, and I have already changed them to different types of workers (and aren`t hackers supposed to be useless when making games?). Also, you need 6 hardware engineers to make the special console, which is what I made.

Hire new workers. Although he is a secret character, King Ackbar (and Mister X) are only 2nd tier characters, you can get better ones (they'll usually start off as hackers) with higher stat caps. And yes, after you reach a certain point, training will no longer increase your characters' stats unless you get "super parameter up", which seems to be random. Job-wise Hackers have the best stats so change your characters to it after you're done with console development. Not sure why you think they're "useless when making games", it's the best job available unless you're developing consoles.

From what I've read in guides, I was under the impression that hackers don't contribute much points to game development despite their high stats, and that it was best to switch them to a different job once you've acquired them. If I am mistaken though, please correct me.

Also, is there any point in leveling up a character in other jobs (other than getting them to be a hardware engineer)? Would it be better if I just level them in one job and ignore the rest?

And one last thing. Coders, producers, and directors, what's the point to them? What do coders do? And are producers and directors better than the other 4 main jobs?

Not true, my games have higher points when using hackers, both in the proposal and development process. Not sure if having a high level in the relevant prerequisite class (say, writer) would have any effect, but if you want the highest stats you'll need to level up all the classes anyway.

Refer to above about stats. And the Hacker job also requires a Level 5 in all other jobs, so that's another reason to level up in jobs. My knowledge of which job is good at what is kinda flaky, you can check the job descriptions here. Some jobs are better than others in certain development areas.

Alright, I just tested it out, and you are correct, hackers are just as good. I could've sworn I read somewhere that they weren't.

Btw, if you fire someone, can you rehire them? And would they have their original stats, or the stats they had when you fired them? I'm wondering this because I've already hired the three hackers in the game, but moved them around to level up other jobs, and so lost some points. Would it have been better if I didn't do that and just kept them as hackers?

Also, is it worth it to try to level up other characters to hackers, because it seems that doing that would just give me the situation that King Ackbar is in, basically a character who is completely leveled up, but with poor stats because he was moved around too much.

I'll try to switch King Ackbar to a hacker and see if his stats move up (he's a S. engineer right now).

Edit: To answer some of my own questions. You can rehire people at their initial stats, though I'm not sure if this applies to special characters. Also I don't know if raising the levels in other jobs matters, but switching to hackers class raises stats. I switched King Ackbar to hacker and now his stats are 543/496/362/394.

I have one regular worker who's almost at hacker class, but has poor stats atm. I'll see for myself if leveling him up to hacker is worth it as opposed to just training him in one job.

Sure, you can rehire them. I think they were at the same stats when I rehired them, but I can't say for sure. Anyway you can just reload your previous save if it's not the case. IIRC when you change jobs around they're stat points will increase/decrease accordingly so when you change it back to hacker the lost points should go back. Either way, you'll still get higher stats if you level up the other jobs to 5 and change back to hacker again.

Basically more jobs leveled up = higher stats, and hacker = higher stats in general, so by all means, level up in everything. :p As I mentioned, there are better characters than King Ackbar though.

Alright, I'll just level everyone up then. Thanks for all the help. I already got the achievement for hiring King Ackbar, so I guess firing him isn't a big deal if there are better workers out there.

No problem. There's a few other characters (both secret and regular ones) better than him, in terms of stats and energy too.

Sorry for the massive bump but the video game crack that is game dev story has got me again. Im going through trying to get all the achievements but a few have me stumped. I've hired the masked guy and the king but how do I get the other mystery characters? Or is it purely based on dumb luck. I've put out quite a few hiring promo's but I still keep coming up empty.

Any other pointers on getting some of the other achievements is welcome!

    Thanks for the help.
