AHHH!! the dev should add an update that makes it possible to have different designs of consoles we make. Grrr!
Making your own console kills the fun IMO. Instead of trying to get licenses and developing for consoles you know in real life, you just make your own that looks the same and takes away the fun.
Send Miyamoto-San an e-mail asking him politely for a super stunning exclusive game and it should help. >.> I'm yet to pick this up, but I'm going to do it DAMNIT, I promise you all.
He's actually in the game, with the parody name Shigeto Minamato. I spent 5 hours yesterday playing this game and I love it! Anyone knows what good genre combos there are? So far I found out: Action RPG/History Action RPG/Pirates Shooter/Robot Racing/Snowboard Racing/F1 Adventure/Historical Simulation/Animal
Go to gamerankings.com, filter by platform an you will se the best of all time. Try to do the same combo and you will do great. However I think one of the fu of the game is to try different combinations and also try to remember all the games that made a lot of success during our childhood (assuming that you were already born when Nintendo was launched). Cheers, Bruno
Does anyone have a good matrix of what actions unlock various genres of game, or is it completely random? From what I can tell, the following may unlock genres: 1. Completing contracts 2. Hiring new employees 3. Training employees 4. Leveling up employees / swapping jobs In my current game I've unlocked genres like 'mushroom,' 'poncho' (which I"m not sure what to pair with) and 'Ogre,' which has become my signature genre for our flagship title, Ogrepants 1-23. But I still haven't unlocked Fantasy, for example. Any help?
"Just one more year!" This game is ridiculously addictive. It might lose its addictiveness after you successfully create a good console, but until then... it will be played.
From 3 playthroughs (last one is at 43 years), I've observed that GAME GENRES are unlocked by levelling employees with different careers or employing new employees who already have different careers at higher levels than current employees. GAME TYPES are unlocked by training staff with specific level careers on specific training types. E.g. Level 1 writer training in reading will get a specific TYPE unlock. Level 2 coder training in anime will get a different TYPE unlock. (Examples only, actual results may vary...) Best plan, Start someone from level 1 in any career, train them in all types of training, level them up to 2, repeat all training, etc. up to level 5. Then swap their career and do it all again. In this way you will unlock every GENRE & TYPE and end up with a hardware engineer (consoles!) who can then become a hacker. Of course, maxing like this is no replacement for actually having FUN with the game. Unless you find maxing fun... like I did!
Out of curiosity I'd like to know everyone's game that finally got them best game of the year award. I know it took me a little while and the game that did it for me was my Fantasy Puzzler, Paradox! My creative team didn't like the combination but it was my best selling game at that time and won me the award. It's sequel sold more copies, but only won best music. What was the name/genre of your game that FINALLY got you, your first/only game of the year?
I believe that my first GOTY was a fantasy action RPG called Epic Heroes on the Intendro DM. It was a sequel to another called Action Heroes, which only made it into the Hall of Fame. To be honest, I don't really remember because I started a new game.

Each time you change his job, you will also need to max out that worker's level. Once he/she is level 5 in every job, the "hardware engineer" position will appear.
