Alright, I've been in touch with SteelSeries about the Stratus lag issue. According to them, it is a known problem with 8.1 and below, but it is supposedly solved in 8.1.1 with the latest Stratus firmware. This doesn't really match my findings so far, but that was with an iOS device updated to iOS 8.1.1. I've now gone ahead and fully restored to 8.1.1, fully updated the firmware of the Stratus to the latest version, and am testing for lag. So far, it seems better, but I'm certainly not going to call it fixed without much further testing. So yeah, if you're experiencing lag with the Stratus, it probably can't hurt to restore (not update) your device to iOS 8.1.1, and to make sure the controller is running the latest firmware.
8.1.1 and using the latest firmware. It's not a big lag but it's a proper ballache on the first two Mikey games and it makes them so imprecise.
Did you restore to 8.1.1 or update to 8.1.1? SteelSeries is claiming that 8.1.1 fixes the problem, and I'm having mixed results with it
[EDIT]Question retracted[/EDIT] I got TR2 and test it for 3 minutes and it seems to have no lag (if it has, I may be too insensitive to detect it) I really love the Stratus for the size and the physical build quality. I hope they can improve the situation continuously. Anyway, thanks for update the info on this thread. Appreciated.
I've been taking with SteelSeries about it, and according to them 8.1.1 fixes the situation. This doesn't seem to be the case universally - people in this thread are still experiencing it - but for many people, 8.1.1 indeed improves things. They're investigsting further. I'm hopeful they'll be able to fix the remaining issues, because the Stratus is a really unique controller, and it's a shame many of us can't get the most out of it.
What's the best controller for use with iPad, I'm looking at the Stratus XL, but when does that release.
Has anyone on here ordered a Mad Catz CTRLi recently? If so, how long did it take to ship? I ordered one on 11/25, and when I go to the order status page it still says "Pending Fulfillment". I'd guess that means it's backordered.
@kmacleod: do you know when your review of the bigger Madcatz will be up on your page? Fortunately my financial situation changed a bit and i'll most probably sort the small stratus out.Or keep it just for travels, but i want a"real"controller now and i have to decide between Stratus XL and the bigger Madcatz. Well,i mean i already know most pros/cons from both but it's always good to check more detailed reviews...
Working on it, I think tomorrow I can't review the Stratus XL yet because my unit is broken (wouldn't be fair to review a defective controller). They're shipping a replacement for review, but that won't be here until the 10th. In the two weeks I've been using the C.T.R.L.i, I have yet to experience the slightest lag or a single disconnect. I may have nit-picky complaints about various things, but it's a solid controller, with the exception of the d-pad.
@kmecleod: ok,one last thing:even if your Stratus XL was broken, what do you think of the huge L+R trigger buttons? From the pics they look...well...unusual
Honestly, they're surprisingly disappointing. Too sensitive, and too difficult to switch between them and the shoulder buttons. I'm waiting to see if the replacement unit fixes them, but I'm not optimistic. On the plus side, the d-pad is decent, for a large circle pad
Weird, now I just got an email from Mad Catz saying they'd cancelled my order, with no reason given. I wonder if they're discontinuing production.
