I only game its really an issue for me is Real Racing because of the extreme precision needed to do minor steering corrections. Perhaps I just need to get used to it.

This is a solid controller, if your looking for xbox style MFi this is the way to go, for playstation style I would wait for the Stratus XL.

Does Real Racing have a sensitivity adjustment for the steering? I've been playing Reckless Racing 3 with a controller, and at first the analog stick seemed way too sensitive. It seemed like all the steering input required used only the middle quarter inch of the stick's movement range, which made it hard to be precise. However in the settings you can lower the sensitivity so more of the stick's range is used, which completely fixed the problem for me.

No problems with the CTRLi, but no fix for the Stratus lag and Rebel disconnects

I looked but couldn't find a sensitivity setting. Perhaps I'm just not seeing it.

Other racing games like Asphalt and Reckless Racing are tons of fun with the controller though.

I appreciate that you have very high standards but you repeat to write on your website the stratus is"just broken"but sorry man, this is just not true ;)

Or is misundrestood your statement but"just broken"means unplayable to me.

I tested more games now (below)and all of them are playable very well with just a little lag.And i cannot even say the the lag annoyed me just one time. And I can't say that the experience with the stratus was better on ios 7,afair not. Playing also a lot online and been a Consolero since pong, some controller experience available ;)

    Manuganu,Dodo Master,Bards Tale,Kotor,Asphalt8,Beach Buggy Racing,Battle Supremacy,Unpossible,Minigore 2,Oceanhorn,Table Top Racing,Badland,Riptide GP2,Walking War Robots all fine.

The exception here is Badland, that one is definitely better playable without a controller but who wants to play Badland with a controller anyway? :)

I still can't test sonic (that was your example in the other thread) but even if the lag there make it impossible to play there are really a lot of other games left that one can play without problems.

BUT that doesn't mean i recommend the stratus, definitely not.Especially not for the ridiculous price. There are much better controller available now (looking at you,Madcatz) and i will buy a new one as soon as the Madcatz drops the price a little.

If you play on iPhone the MAD CATZ C.T.R.L.I it's the choice cause you have the arm clip for secure you're iPhone,The SSXL it's only for iPad..(I mean who play on iPhone/iPod without the arm clip? Then the MAD CATZ it's the only one that don't have problem with iOS 8,I don't know for the SSXL if work with iOS 8,maybe it work perfectly, but, who knows?this are things to take in consideration..

Nah, to me, "broken" means "doesn't work correctly or as advertised". I'd say the Stratus fits that definition.

Different people have different sensitivity to input lag, but I've tested the Stratus pretty extensively, and the lag is real and noticeable to me. And it's WAY worse under iOS 8 than under 7.

Reviews and recommendations will always be a matter of opinion, and mine is that the Stratus should not be purchased by anyone until the issue is fixed. Not saying you have to agree with me, but my opinion on that probably isn't going to change ;)

See above; there are issues that some people - myself included - consider very serious with the original Stratus. I have no idea whether the new Stratus XL suffers from these issues, but at this point, I don't have a lot of faith in SteelSeries. Between the analog sticks falling appart on the first Stratus (widely experienced by many, including myself and Eli from TA), the lag, and the long turnaround time for warranty repair, not sure I'd recommend SS.

You may not find the input lag with the Stratus particularly bad, but why risk it when the Mad Catz controllers do not have these issues at all?

"Crippled" might have been a better word than broken. Or borked. Compromized, Hampered... I don't know, it feels pretty broken when I'm trying to play platformers and fighting games, but your mileage may vary.

I'm getting lag up to a half-second sometimes on my iOS 8 devices. This is on 8.1 mind you, I haven't tested thoroughly with 8.1.1 yet. I've heard reports that 8.1.1 improves things a little, though I'm not sure if it's the placebo effect or not.

I've tested on iOS 8 with the iPhone 6, iPad Air 2, iPhone 5S, and iPhone 5. All experience exactly the same results, so I'm not thinking it's device specific. I've played extensively under iOS 7 the 5S, the 5, and an iPad 4 I still have running iOS 7, and all performed noticeably better.

I have an iPad Mini v1 running 8.2 beta, but I haven't tested it thoroughly enough to call it one way or the other. The Rebel still disconnects, for whatever it's worth.

Anyways, I think we're actually pretty close in our opinions, so I'm not going to argue about this point anymore. You're probably right in the "Broken" is a bit too strong a word, I'll give you that. But a decent number of games I've tried are close to unplayable - I just got done playing Smash Bros with my girlfriend, and whichever of us was stuck using the Stratus each match performed very poorly compared to the C.T.R.L.i models.

I'm very much looking forward to getting my hands on the Stratus XL and seeing if any of the problems are fixed there. I'm optimistic, though I'm not sure why :D

Did you really mean to say Smash Bros? I thought that was a Nintendo-only game.

yeah, let em come (reports about the stratus XL).:)

Even if it's 10 bucks more i would prefer the XL over the Madcatz because i can use AA batteries instead of triple A and...it looks nicer.Well, more serious and less like a toy you know:D

Would be nice if we will see force feedback support someday.Although it would mean buying another controller for a hundred bucks upwards, lol.

RetroArch works great with controllers, and it's n64 emulation is pretty solid.
Unfortunately, much of my multiplayer testing requires emulating older systems, because so few iOS games support multiple controllers. Aztec Antics makes a good test game, and I've seen similar results there.

The bigger Mad Catz controller feels REALLY solid, though I agree the AAA battery requirement is pretty awful, and the looks are a bit amateurish. The Stratus XL absolutely has the looks down, and AA batteries are the best of both worlds. The biggest question mark for me is build quality. And whether there's lag, of course

Does anyone know how long it is on average between something (stratus XL) being avalable in the american Apple Store to being avalable in NZ? Or is it completely dependent on when the company decides to ship product to that country?
