I hear you, and I wish as much as anyone that more games were supported. But it's not as bad as you think. Over 330 games with support across every genre, at least one of every week's releases with support, major publishers and indies alike releasing updates - we're in the early days here still. But check through all the available games, and you'll always be able to find something to play
SteelSeries offers a "developer bundle" discount for 50 bucks. Not quite enough for some devs, though. It would be nice if Apple would partly subsidize a developer controller - they could offer one with Standard, Extended, and Bluetooth options for a reasonable price. Still, speaking personally, I'm surprised more developers aren't just buying one as a "cost of doing business" expense. The 50 bucks for a controller will almost certainly translate to more than 50 dollars in sales.
It is slow true, but I think it will pick up before christmas time. That is when we shall see if Apple and devs are serious about ios joysticks.
Well, wwdc and e3 will pick up things a bit, but madcatz release in two weeks should pick it up more. And the bladepro, hori, and phonejoy. But games wise, christmas is when the console like games really come out.
Mad Catz is a little further than 2 weeks out, but that wasn't what I meant. E3 should have some news from HORI, but the big news will be WWDC - I'm sure Apple has plans.
Well mad catz is still reporting a mid June 2014 launch, but of course that may change. This rumoured apple stick what you talking about? Thought you weren't into rumours...
I'm not into unsourced rumors - if I post something, it's because I trust the source. If Apple is planning an official stick, I have absolutely no first-hand knowledge of it. Speaking personally, I don't think they'd release anything of the sort as a dedicated iPhone controller. An Apple TV update with a game controller wouldn't surprise me, though.
You didn't see the TA article hinting of an Apple joystick? That was what I thought you were refering too.
Oh no, that wasn't what I was referring to. If you meant the WWDC streaming article, TA seemed to just be speculating there - I didn't read that as a hint at any actual information.
Yeah, probably all speculation. If there was truely going to be an Apple joystick revealed at wwdc, then I would think it would have been leaked manufacturer reports from china. But who knows, maybe apple hopefully has plans for an ios console.
Mad Catz is still reporting a mid June 2014 release date for the ios version Mad Catz CTLRi. Alright!!! On schedule, just a couple of weeks away for the full size xbox like stick! Compatible with both iphone with holder, or take the holder off, and you got a detached full size stick for your ipad!
Good question. Hope it's not over $80. It seems like the MFi controller I've been waiting for, in any case.
I would have to note too that the Steelseries is an excellent travel and joystick you can put in your pocket. And there are other sticks coming out soon like the hori pad, phonejoy, bladepro, and others.
Regardless of apples forced supply chain policies ,If they really want MFi controllers to take off game controllers are $40-$60...End of story... The Razer JungleCat standard controller is a joke if they expect to sell it at $99. $60 for the Madcatz is stretching it .. Its not even got a lithium battery! All responsibility lays in the hands of Apple to bring the price of these controllers down to an acceptable level.. I think they made the mistake of trying to sell "game controllers" to "people with iPhones", instead of selling "game controllers" to "gamers"
