Does anyone know if support for Wii U Pro controller means it will also work with Wii Classic Controller?
I guess it uses the method used by the iCade and other controllers that were released before MFi existed.
"Angry Caveman: Dinosaur Hunter" "Little Strawhair's World" "Little Strawhair's World 2" "Spooky Maze" All add controller support + iCade integration. These updates went live on 26th February.
It's most likely an iCade-style device, yes. That's how most of the unbranded Chinese controllers work. The MFi standard requires a special chip from Apple themselves to work, at least until someone finally clones the chip. Yep, those were updated a couple of weeks ago; they're all competent side-scrolling platformers. That seems to be a great genre for controller support...
If Apple added a large button on the front page of the App Store called Controller Compatible Games or something, that would entice devs to fast-track MFi support a lot more quickly.
I'm not doubting your knowledge on this subject. I love your site! I do have one question though. If the controllers require an Apple chip, how is it that C4all allows for Playstation controllers to work? No chips in there. I thought it was like the Duo Gamer Gameloft controller where Apple had to sign off for a specific Bluetooth protocol for it to function. Those controllers were supported before MFi. Also, no chips in those. It seems that BTstack is essential to get non MFi controllers to be recognized, which leads me to believe chips are not necessary? Am I way off here? Either way, it's interesting none the less.
Well I could be wrong here, but I believe it DOES require a special chip for the correct MFi controller signals to be sent by the controller to the iPhone or iPad. I believe the way c4all works is by taking the INCORRECT signals sent by other controllers, then changing those to the correct MFi signals after they reach the device. Basically, it inserts an extra layer as a driver to do the translation. That allows any controller that can send ANY signal to the iPhone to be translated into the correct signal. The open question is, can a third party make an unlicensed controller that sends the MFi compatibile signal. Personally, I think the answer is yes, but they'd probably need to reverse engineer one of Apple's chips.
Looks like MFi controller support isn't too far off for bug Heroes 2! There is an option for Gamepad Mapping that doesn't seem to do too much at the moment.

I've tested all of those before, but I can't get That's My Bag to support any controllers - am I missing something?
Not sure, the source mentioned all these have been tested with one of three controllers, either MOGA, STRATUS, or LOGITECH. Or it could have been submitted as a working app by error. So, do the others from the list actually work? In not sure how accurate this source is.
Well I don't know about that - I generally don't mark a game as compatible unless I actually test it myself. I've tested all of those a while ago, but I don't believe That's My Bag is compatible with any controllers.
