iPad 3 is stronger than the 4s, is it not? Regardless, those devices ARE capable of running MFi controllers. My iPad loves my DS3. As for power, isn't it a non issue? I would think the Bluetooth has more to do with it than anything else. I mean, how much power does it take to operate a basic input device?!?!? Another stupid move by Apple.

It's a little bit stronger, but with a LOT more it has to power. The graphics card is less than twice as good, but the screen is 4 times the resolution, for example. As a result, it runs significantly rougher than all other A5 products...

Our 1.9.1 Mikey Shorts update/fix finally got approved! So that will take care of crashing on iOS versions less than 7.0, and change the button layout so that A and Y = JUMP and X and B = SLIDE.

The pause crash is strange, though. And I'm guessing that won't be fixed by this latest update. I'm hoping to submit a Mikey Shorts update tomorrow with a bunch of tweaks and fixes which might take care of the pause crash.

So are you just pausing in the middle of a level and it crashes?

yup, but in only crashes when I'm pausing it using the start button on my DS3, but when using the in game menu to pause, no problem at all. It is just strange to me cause it is not happening to my other games. And oh thanks for changing the button layout, I just started playing your game last Saturday night, and it feels like kind a wrong every time I'm playing it,my mind is always telling me, that shouldn't be the jump button and slide button. So there's always a delay in my reflexes esp. when trying to be fast on a certain level. Anyway, very great game.

iPhone 4S has bluetooth 4.0 or LE (low energy), don't know about the ipad 3 though. So I don't know why Stratus made it not compatible with the 4S.

Yeah, you're right, I forgot the 4S supports bluetooth 4.0... makes no sense then, no.

It's probably Apple's requirement, though. Can't see SteelSeries not wanting to sell to anyone possible

well obviously power also is not an issue, cause ipad 3 >>> ipad mini 1st gen and iphone 4s, but the ipad mini 1st gen has support.

I believe it is a bluetooth issue. DS3 works because it's an older bluetooth device, not BTLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). MFi controllers are BTLE. Those older devices don't support BTLE, AFAIK.

edit: oops, i see others have chimed in with a similar comment. but yeah this is a little mysterious. If the 4S and iPad 3 both have BTLE, then it must be tied to the Lightning connector, which seems like a bug. Probably not an intentional omission...

Correction : MFi controllers are not BTLE
I believe the issue is embedded into the iOS 7 core game controller handling code.
    Maybe 7.1will fix this.?

oh also in regards to the steel series controller issues with delayed inputs when holding other buttons, I noticed the problem is not only with the d-pad + buttons but also with just buttons + buttons. For example, when holding X down, pressing A at the same time delays the input. again, this is very noticeable with Super Mario World in an SNES emulator. :( i really hope this can be fixed in a firmware update!

I sent them a support request on Friday and they haven't got back so I just popped them a chaser a minute ago. It really is a bit crap considering the price.

Well what I was saying earlier is that while the iPad 3 is more powerful than those other devices, it also has a LOT more to do with that power. The graphics card is twice as powerful as the other devices, but it has to do 4 times the work - that's why games run better on the iPad Mini and iPhone 4S.

    Still probably doesn't matter, though

Jeez, that is bad. I'll bring it up with the support agent if they get back to me soon, and escalate it further if they don't...

Not only did SteelSeries get back to me, but they were able to fix it all in firmware!
I can't detect any lag at all, no matter which buttons or DPad combinations are used. Definitely good news - I was afraid the problem would turn out to be much worse.

Woah! That is great news! Did they give any indication when the firmware update is coming out?

They sent me the firmware but my computer just keeps hanging. Damn! Will keep trying but mighty glad to hear it works. They send it as a zip file if you ask them.

Edit: just got the new firmware update working - Mikey shorts now works like a charm on the SteelSeries. Magical stuff.

They told me it should hopefully be out by the end of the week, and they just need to do some more testing first :)
