Support added for... Bird Bomb What's new - Added game controller support for the MOGA Ace Power, SteelSeries Stratus, and other Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad (MFi) controllers. - Updates to Kamcord replay to fix a problem sharing videos via Twitter. - Updates to Skillz to fix a few issues. - A few other small bug fixes.
It works with all the controllers, yeah. It's not particularly good in the objective sense, but I got my download's worth of amusement out of it...
I haven't found any games that do work with the Moga / SteelSeries that don't also work with the DS3 - the system just sees it as another MFi controller with the Extended layout. I don't actually test the DS3 regularly in my testing process, but every time I've tried it, that's what I find. Standard (Logitech) only layouts don't work with the DS3, but Extended (MOGA / SteelSeries / anything with sticks) compatible layouts do work with the DS3
Just bought Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, don't know if it is on sale but it is $1.99. And may I ask how do I fire in the reverse direction? I played the tutorial without the controller, you only need to swipe up (it will fire front-ward) and down (backward). But when using a joystick, I can't seem to find it, A is for firing and B is for alt firing. But both fires in the same direction, which is frontward.
B works, and X works for me too - whenever I look behind myself, it fires the weapon in reverse automatically...
Nope, seems exactly the same in my testing. The DS3 is a little finicky in how it connects, and occasionally loses connection and needs to be repaired. As far as compatibility is concerned though, seems equal to Moga or Steelseries in my experience. Both are different than the Logitech, which has slightly different compatibility ratings - that's why I test both Most developers added support without testing on a real controller. The best thing to do, and I what I try to do, is communicate with developers whose games have compatibility issues. They're usually very willing to fix - nobody wants broken support. As controllers get common enough for developers and beta testers to have access to, all these compatibility issues will go away
Plenty of racing games support controllers, it's nice to have choice! Don't forget 2k Drive, Angry Birds Go, Riptide 2, Nitro, Cro-Mag Rally... Big selection
Sony kind of steals everything when it comes to gaming. The Playstation controller is a ripped off snes design (PSOne, no analog controller) Rumble tech, Playstation Move, Sharpshooter (same as the Wii gun, but slightly improved) all the way to PSN charging $59 a year for online play on PS4. To me, Sony has ALWAYS been catching up to the pack. They are never innovators, unless it comes down to inventing some kind of proprietary media storage format. They are OBSESSED with that. Its really their only claim to fame as far as I'm concerned.
Immersion is a patent troll, they didn't actually invent vibration at all. They just patented a method of doing it, then sued other companies into paying up. It actually has very little to do with Sony. The patent system in America is a mess, but that's a topic for another day. With that said, Nintendo has always been the most innovative company - and I say that not being much of a fan of them. Analog, Rumble, motion, 3d - Nintendo rightly deserves credit for bringing those to mass market. Sony's historic strength, at least through the PS2 era, has been in doing the right things. The PS1 was the right system - while Sega was flailing around with an arguably more innovative Saturn with square polygons and a unique architecture, Sony launched a cheaper, easier to develop for console with a better controller. When Nintendo launched the N64 with cartridges, a three-pronged analog controller, and rumble that had to be clicked on, Sony responded by stealing the RIGHT part of the design - Rumble and Analog - and integrating them in a far better way. The PS2 continued being the RIGHT system, without worrying about being a different system. That is why those were two of the most successful consoles in history - because they were the right consoles, not because they innovated for the sake of innovation. Sony lost track of that. The PS3 was NOT the right console. It was overpriced, had a worse controller than it's predecessor, took way too long to have a decent online component, was too hard to develop for - basically, it was everything the PS2 wasn't. The Vita and PSP continued that track. The PS4 seems to fix that somewhat, but I'm not sure a home console is even the right product to make anymore. A PlayStation tablet or phone might make a lot more sense in the current market, though that is a whole other topic. Meanwhile, Nintendo kept "innovating" with the WiiU and 3DS, to minimal effect. Innovation is important, but building a great product is more important. This isn't COMPLETELY off topic, because it actually relates to Apple quite a bit. They are sort of the best of Sony and Nintendo - they build the best products, AND innovate when they need to. They don't throw a bunch of goofy nonsense out to see what sticks, like Nintendo (and Samsung) - they just build the right products, adding innovative features like fingerprint sensors and ultra-high-resolution displays as needed. Then everyone copies them, but unlike Sony copying Nintendo, the innovator ALSO makes the best product.
I found that, after hours of playing it, Sonic All Stars T. is an in-app fest type of game. You have to pay to retry a level or change the difficulty of the race??? And it crashes sometimes on my ipad mini. So I'm gonna stick with Asphalt 8. 2K Drive seems ok,though it has many bad reviews on app store, so I'm gonna pass for now since it is expensive too.
I found the same thing with Sonic - too much IAP for my taste. Asphalt 8 is a usual Gameloft affair though - you can just see how little emotion was put into any of it. They saw other racing games, they released something that plays similarly and hits all the bullet points, but that's all it ever feels like to me. I found 2K drive basically unplayable. The presentation is an ugly, claustrophobic mess. There may be a great game buried in there, but I'm not particularly interested in finding it. I'll play it long enough to write a review, but I don't recommend spending a dollar on it. I forgot to add Table Top Racing to the above list! That one is actually quite good, if you're a fan of arcade racers.
Too much begging for money, that's what I meant. It's NOT a free game - I already gave them money. When I buy a game, I want it to be balanced correctly. If they want more money, they should work for it - new levels, new modes, new missions. Not pop-ups about coins - I consider that unacceptable.
