I haven't noticed any difference between versions, but yeah, it always played well. Oceanhorn feels much better with the real MFi controller though, yeah...

so far it works pretty well. It seems to do a better job of only turning on when needed. I do get some connection issues with my DS4, but now all I need to do is to close the game via the app switcher then restart the game. That fixes it (rather than having to reset the iPad).

Connection speed seems very nice, and there doesn't seem to be input lag, except for KotOR.

  4. Why? Cause you guys have cool joysticks?

Because if they loved us, they would have just ALLOWED us to use PS3 controllers from the very start.

Asphalt 8 is a pretty good racing game. I like it better than Real Racing.

Does any joysticks or games supports "vibrating" when being slashed, killed or something like that? I wish that Controllers for all will be updated to support such functionality.

  8. Maybe they will change their mind one day.

Real racing 3 had an okay start, but the timers and all the IAP became to much and to abundant. EA.

Yeah I was wondering that as well and I couldn't find any info on MFi controllers supporting vibrations.

No, that's not part of the spec. Very few games are designed to support vibration in-game at this time, but it could conceivably be added in the future...

  12. Since most of the units are form fitting, apple might not want vibrations.

To be fair, iPhones are designed to vibrate - it probably wouldn't hurt too much having the game controller shell vibrate a little as well. And yeah, wireless controllers have nothing to worry about

This could come down to a patent problem. The PS3 shipped without vibration support in it's Sixaxis controller due to Sony's unwillingness to pay a company called Immersion for the rights to use a vibration motor. They later relented, which is why we have the DualShock 3.

Apple might wish to avoid this headache...

I heard that Sony/Microsoft pay Nintendo every year to liscence the vibration function in their controllers. Don't know how accurate that is, but I guess if this would be e case if Apple decided to allow rumble function too in MFi pads.

That's a little bit off. Sony snd Microsoft were both being sued for stealing the rumble tech from Immersion. Then Microsoft bought said company, so it's like this. Sony pays Microsoft for rumble, Microsoft pays Sony for BluRay, and Nintendo was never involved. The end. (At least I think that's accurate)

That's closer to my understanding on the subject, but I'm not sure I'd use the word "stealing". Immersion did make actual products, but they also sued anyone who attempted to integrate vibration, even if the implementation was completely different than theirs. They weren't quite a patent troll, but they definitely acted like one.

I did not realize that Microsoft bought them, though. If that's true, Apple could definitely integrate vibration - Apple has a complete patent cross licensing agreement with Microsoft.

They definitely bought them. That whole Six Axis "rumble is last gen" crap Sony tried to feed us was because of that law suit. Microsoft never missed a beat because they just bought Immersion instead of paying them. After seeing the disappointment from gamers and developers, Sony caved, payed the royalties, and we got the Dualshock 3.

Oh I agree with that completely, I was just disagreeing with saying Sony necessarily stole Immersion's technology. The way the patent system works, Sony's vibration implementation may have had absolutely nothing to do with Immersion's work, and yet Immersion still could have sued Sony.

I think Sony's mistake was in not paying up, and instead insulting their customers (myself included) by that marketing bull about how it was last gen. Their mistake was in not playing the patent royalty BS game, and instead screwing over their customers - I'm not sure they actually STOLE anything though, that's all I was saying.

  20. Yeah, I would like to see it too. Iphones though they can use the internal vibrate, don't know if apple would be keen on form factor sticks to vibrate cause people might drop them.
