What kind of issues do you have afterawhile to have to reset the ipad? So sounds like there are some pairing issues, how was joystick play?
Yeah it definitely seems like he has more issues with the DS4 than I have with my DS3. Haven't had any kind of weird bugs so far. DS4 support was just added yesterday so those kind of bugs are to be expected I guess.
......REALLY! you cant talk about quality when you bought a MFI! ( ok the powershell might have a bit of a better built than the moga) but seriously? how do you feel after purchasing a 100$ (now 70) controller that still requires you to aim on your touchscreen?? and has 2 triggers ( what is it GBA??). i dont know about the future but as for now i dont see a lot of platformers using mfi...but first why would someone who's so concerned about his ios gaming experience that he would afford a 100$ controller within a month after release, would give up 2 analog sticks ( while the entire ios gaming community has been mostly complaining for years about VIRUAL STICKS!!!) and 2 extra triggers just for something that is HARDLY 'better quality' ??? If you are this regarding at the built that just means you never got your hands on an xbox or ps3 controller...otherwise playing on any mfi out now wouldn't be an option so here clearly you already are making a compromise on the quality. anyway i'm not criticizing...i'm just curious. could be a design issue thought!
Yeah, I wish there would have been just one standard for ios 7 joysticks and all had dual analog sticks and the same number of shoulder triggers. Way too many compatibility issues nowadays, way too many.
There are many things better with the logitech controller: portability, build quality, dpad quality, sound quality, ability to play while charging, pocketability, and now price. Not sure why you're being so argumentative here - the MFi controllers available now are perfectly usable, and even better ones will be available very soon. It is very likely that the Xbox One and PS4 controllers are the best controllers ever made, for any system. That doesn't somehow make other controllers unusable. I put countless hours into my original, non-analog PlayStation controller. People who started gaming before me made do with even lower ergonomics and even fewer buttons. We still had fun.
But 100 for a mfi controller with no analog sticks is rediculous though. Plus it's only fits a 5, 5s or fifth gen ipod in it.
I think it's been pretty well established in this thread that $100 for ANY controller is rediculus (unless it's a WiiU gamepad, that thing is a beast!) Let's move on already. Just use a PS3 controller and wait for a better MFi to arrive. Be grateful for the hack, as myself and many others are, for without it, we wouldn't be playing any MFi games. Why? Because we know $100 is too much. Next!
MFi is all analog, so any game using this will play differently (or not at all) on any controller that is not.
Good point slam, yes as we know the MFi BT doesn't not work on iOS devices such as iPhone4s,iPad2/3 so maybe this is a solution for people with these devices, (I'm sure there's a few) Hopefully the next MFi Bt GC's will work for these older devices, and a firmware update for the stratus is in the works.
That's your opinion, that is by no means consensus. $100 for a great quality, well built iphone controller with an integrated battery is by no means too much, in my opinion. The current controllers just aren't that great.
He's kinda right though. People are getting ps3 joysticks on their system almost for free by jailbreaking. Also, the general public probably won't buy joysticks for over $50. If a ps3 stick is selliing for $30, quality wise, why would they pay $100. Now I'm talking the general public, not some joystick fanatics like us.
The general public doesn't jailbreak - they'd HAVE to buy a real MFi controller if they get one - so we already are talking about a slightly techy, enthusiast audience. $100 bucks IS too much for the controllers available now - especially the bluetooth one - but I don't think it's too crazy for a controller AND battery case, like the Powershell and Moga. Just build a GOOD one that FEELS like $100 bucks - people will buy it. Then build cheaper bluetooth controllers - people will buy those too.
I really doubt if the general public will buy joysticks for $100. They won't even buy an app worth more than a buck.
I wonder about that - we don't exactly have the figures to know, of course, but people pay $100 for Mophie batteries WITHOUT controllers built in. A really killer, beautiful, well made Mophie that ALSO has a controller in it could be a good seller, I think. However, a $40 bluetooth controller will be a bigger seller - here's hoping one of these companies makes that happen
I think the controller price is relative really. I paid close to $100 for a leather Smart Cover. $80 for a Bluetooth controller doesn't seem that ridiculous to me anyways. I do jailbreak but never owned a ps3 and don't want to worry about if I upgrade having to wait for a new jailbreak to play some games and I bet a lot of people would feel the same way.
I doubt if they will update either Nova 3 or MC4. MC4 didn't even get duo gamer support. It's alot of work, if it doesn't work right for jailbreakers, they will get flooded with 1 star reviews.
When you start up a game with controller support, "Controllers for All" will display several notifications, first telling you to prepare the controller (basically just have it handy), then it will tell you to press the PS button on the DS4. After playing a few games (or just after a while), it will stop displaying that second notification. Resetting my iPad solves the problem (closing the game via the app switcher or disabling and re-enabling "Controllers for All" also seem to work sometimes). So yeah, I seem to have issues with getting the DS4 paired with the iPad from time to time.
I picked up a cheap DS3 and it's fantastic. Don't see the point arguing over the Logitech. Personally, I love it with my phone and for games that use the extended layout I'll use thr SteelSeries (when it arrives) or my newly paired DS3.
