Even if the hack hadn't come out, I still wouldn't buy the steel series gamepad. It's just too much money. The damn WiiU gamepad is only $140 to replace. That controller has EVERYTHING in it. Huge touch screen, camera, speakers, microphone, headphone jack, IR port, rumble, NFC communication, a sensor bar, Bluetooth, and it's built like a tank!!!! It's only $40 more than these flimsy MFi controllers. That's the whole point! It's like Apple trying to sell us a MFi bag of Doritos for $35 and the chips are stale, packaged in a bag made of tissue paper, with limitations as to when you could eat the chips! Regular Doritos are like $4 for a bag, and they taste better!!
I think its a shame that this thread has turned into a ps controller/jailbreak thread. I'm never gonna jailbreak, I can see why people do but I'm not into it. I want to read about relevant ios7 controller news and experience not all this other talk. A split sounds good to me.
I would like this thread to stay focused on the original topic. Let's just pretend the PS3 controller IS an MFi controller and let's move on. Problem solved. I know I've stated my disappointment and frustration in this thread many times. Maybe too many times. I apologize if I have been responsible in any way for the transformation of the topic here, and will try to control myself in the future. I think a split will be bad for the general goal of this thread. It's had pretty good traffic and I appreciate being able to discuss this topic with other people who share the same interests as myself. Let's just call it good, and get back on track.
I generally try to avoid jailbreaking and discussion about that, but it was a pretty significant milestone in the story of MFi controllers. Now that the story is old, discussion of that stuff will die down naturally I think.
@DarkScience Wow, I was beginning to think that I was the only non jailbreaker on Toucharcade after reading this thread, good to hear there is someone else out there. Guess the topic is tough, cause there might be 500 true ios 7 joystick users in the world, and 500,000 jailbreakers with ps sticks (yeah, the numbers are probably distorted), but unfortunate as it is, the jailbreakers are the active joystick users now. As the person above stated, guess it should be considered an ios 7 joystick especially because of the widespread usage. Maybe we can move some of the more specific true ios 7 joystick stuff to the hdmi thread or somewhere else later, I just have a hunch that there is going to be more and more talk about compatibility questions with ps sticks cause inherently there will be more particular issues.
Didn't take long for a ps4 controller clip to appear. http://www.gamestop.com/ps4/accessories/ps4-dualshock-4-controller-smart-clip/112598
As it's exactly a MFi controller there are no compatibility issue that are specific to the tweak. (Apart from some bugs) So I don't think it's necessary to move it to a different thread. Let's also not forget that Jailbreaking is legal (at least here in Europe and the EU court just said it again last week) and that it is different from pirating. So yeah it's just a normal iOS controller in my mind. (And it's seriously the best one right now by far)
Yeah, I agree, since there is so many users with jailbroken ps3 joysticks it is natural for that talk to be in this thread.
I still think this isn't a representative sample size - jailbreakers discussing things in this thread aren't a representative sample size of iOS gamers
Of course I know that. But I wouldn't be surprised if jailbroken joysticks are more in use now than ios 7 joysticks, and it is just gonna be more so come a month from now after more people jailbreak.
I don't know about that - I do think it would be a shame if that turns out to be true. The thing is, for iPhone gamers, I really believe the Moga or Logitech are much better controller options than a PS3 controller. Being able to click your phone into place and hold it in your hand while you play is way better than trying to assemble a makeshift phone holder.
I would agree with that point. MOGA is probably the best option for iPhone gamers. Ever since I bought an iPad (day one) I've migrated my gaming over to there, and keep the more simple, casual games on the phone. That being the case, for iPad gaming, your options are extremely limited at the moment. For the record, I'm jalibroken on my iPad only. The phone I leave alone. I DO NOT pirate apps. Never have, never will. I did the jailbreak for BluTrol and iFile. The recent Controllers4all has been a bonus, but all of these I have officially purchased through cydia. To me, iFile alone was worth the jailbreak. It should be part of ios7.
How can we stay in topic with real mfi controller when the damn things are stale and only a few have hit the market? Yes we can talk about them.. But they are kinda krap tbh. But right now.. We're all hyped about what other top gamepads could become compatible with C4All.
I enjoy my Moga just fine. I was tempted to jailbreak for a moment, but since my phone is my main form of communication, I didn't want to take the chance of something going wrong. So for now I'll stick with my Moga. It works great with most games. I do have a little trouble aiming precisely in Call of Duty. It reminds me of playing Syphon Filter on the PSP. The analog nubs are very similar.
As more mfi controllers goes out on the market, this forum will be a slugfest of these controllers soon. But right now, deal with it, that a ps3 and a jailbroken device is just a better cheap option to try "the experience" of playing with a controller. And you can always restore on itunes to remove your jailbreak if you are having issues then consider buying a Stratus.
Speaking personally, I don't care all that much about c4all or any other jailbreak stuff. It's interesting for a day or two, but I think Apple's plans for MFi games are far more ambitious than what we are seeing now - THAT interests me The Moga does a lot of things right, yeah. Of the available controllers - including DS3 - it's my favorite for long-session playing. And I've always like analog nubs better than sticks, actually. The Moga's aren't as good as the one on the 3DS or the PSP, but sticks always seem more awkward to use to me...
Price drop on Logitech PowerShell Just noticed the Logitech PowerShell dropped to $69 on the Apple Store website.
