For those who is not interesting in jailbrake and still looking for MFi controllers :)
iFrogz is about to launch the new series of controller instead of one planned.
They've updated their page. Seems like we will have 3 different controllers: http://www.zagg.com/game-controller

Which games do you recommend? I've already got Bastion which works great.

I checked the availability and it looks like it's available at all of the Apple stores in my location (Dallas Texas). Still not sure if I want to drop the money on this, that's a lot of cash.

I can think of a few reasons:

    1) It's a pain to go through all the jailbreak / controller modding process, especially if you've never done it before.

    2) You may not trust the people behind the hack / jailbreak. The evasi0n team bundled a hacked spammy App Store into the Chinese version - maybe you don't trust them to hack your phone.

    3) You have a weaker ios device, and don't want the slowdown associated with jailbreaking.

    4) You only have 1 iOS device, and you don't want to take the risk, especially if it's mission-critical

    5) You don't have a PS3 controller - I definitely don't think I'd recommend buying a PS3 controller and jailbreaking, VS just buying an iOS controller

I agree. If I wasn't into jailbreaking, I wouldn't do this... Especially if i didn't own a ps3 controller. But I wouldn't still buy a crappy product for $100. If they reach dualshock 3 standards... Then I would think about dropping full price for apple certified gamepads.

But right at this moment... I'm loving this tweak! I ordered a brand new DS3 pad (white) because my current one is slightly broken. I did test it though.. And it was working. I might even buy a DS4, just for the extra quality.

Oh, and PSP emulator is getting MFi support... Can't wait to try that with DS3.

It'll happen soon. Heck, there are some great looking pads coming within the next few months.

As for the DS4, apparently it doesn't have pressure sensitive buttons. Not sure if that matters at this time, but the MFi standard requires it, so that might be a problem down the line...

I do like one pad coming soon.. The RP One. Definitely gonna try buy that! But wait for a major price drop! As for DS4... Hmmm hope that works! The dev did say he will enable support with that tweak. Never knew about the whole pressure sensitive requirement.

Yeah, he mentioned on Twitter that it didn't have pressure sensitive switches - I'm actually surprised at that

  11. Kind of sad to see ios 7 joysticks now used as an excuse to jailbreak. This whole ios 7 joystick implementation is going far wrong for Apple.

That's the prevailing narrative; I disagree strongly with it. I count 184 games supporting MFi controllers in the 2-3 months since the program launched, and that's not bad at all.

Also, 3 controllers available now, with at least 4 more announced, all within a few months.

9to5mac wrote a poorly thought out article about the MFi program that jumped to some incorrect conclusions, and the internet picked up on it without fact checking. I strongly disagree with their article (and wrote a long rebuttal to it already), and see no serious problems with the current progress of the iOS controller program.

I found your rebuttal of 9to5mac very reassuring and well considered. Congrats on your MFi website by the way. Great layout for mobile devices and mini articles on MFi games very useful.

"Mad Agents" just added support for Logitech's Powershell controller.

It's actually been my only reason to jailbreak since buying my new Mini Retina.
Apple's swipe-in control center has pretty much eliminated my need to have SBSettings (which I don't think is supported for the iOS7 JB anyways).

Besides this, I don't think i'm longing for any other tweak. Visual enhancements through winterboard/barrel/etc are nice, but not "reason" enough to JB for me, personally.

I tried Controllers For All yesterday on my Mini Retina and it's flat-out amazing to be able to race in Asphalt 8 using my Dual Shock 3. No amount of precision, not on virtual or tilt controls, comes close to how smooth it feels to use analog joysticks. I wish Sonic Racing supported using controllers but sadly, it does not.

Like I said above, I realized I don't "need" to jailbreak anymore to customize my device since Apple's already taken a lot of "Android tweaks" and built them into iOS pretty well. But yeah, this app is a pretty damn good reason to dive in head-first, IMO.

.... And a tweak named "Dimmer" is essential. It lowers the brightness level even further than what Apple allow. Really good for evening in bed. But it needs updating for iOS 7.

Sonic Racing Transformed does work, even with Controllers For All. You need to go into the control option and double tap on "Gamepad". It'll work then!

Yeah, I haven't jailbroken any of my iOS devices in a long time; probably the last time I kept a jailbreak for an extended period of time was actually for the iPhone 1!

This is a pretty strong reason to, though. At least until a decent bluetooth controller is available for 50 bucks or less. I'm not one to advise people to jailbreak, at least not anymore, but this is a pretty awesome hack...

Yeah, I've never had any problems with Sonic Transformed - works for me with the Standard and Extended controllers on both iPhone and iPad
